Peter’s
Christmas Gift
By Cheri.
Part One
Peter walked slowly through CVS. It was the day
before Christmas Eve and he hadn’t brought any presents for the Christmas Party
Harry was having at his house for Mary Jane and him on Christmas Eve. In
addition to that, he had to get Aunt May a present too. He pursed his lips as
he thought. He had no idea what to get for either Mary Jane or Harry. He sighed
as he looked at the makeup. He had no idea if Mary Jane preferred a certain
brand of makeup or not. And Harry, he had no idea what to get someone like him.
He had everything he could ever want…
*Except his father…* Peter thought sadly.
He stood and considered the cosmetics section before
he shrugged and decided to look in perfumes. At least, he knew what perfume
Mary Jane preferred. He got giddy just thinking about the scene of it.
He found the perfume section and stood quietly
whistling to himself as he tried to find the right one.
“Ah, here we are…White Diamonds.” He said, noticing
a small bottle.
He was about to check to see how much money he had
when his eyes darted up to the top row. He smiled as he noticed a little
stuffed angel bear that was holding a small bottle of White Diamonds. He
reached up and got it and touched the dress and the satin wings.
“Ah, An angel bear for my little angel.” He said to
himself. “And it’s the right brand of perfume too. Now, I just hope I have
enough…”
He opened his wallet. He checked the price sticker
under the other bears and grinned as he found he did have enough.
“Great, that’ll do it for MJ. And now, something for
Harry and Aunt May too.” He said, softly.
He walked through the store, but couldn’t decide on
anything suitable for either Harry or Aunt May. He shrugged as he decided to
check out Wal-Mart. Clutching the angel bear to him, he headed up to the
checkout counter.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Peter smiled as he headed out of the Wal-Mart store.
He had managed to find a Christmas comforter for only ten bucks. It had a
nativity scene on it. Peter figured Aunt May would love that, in addition to
keeping her nice and warm on those cold winter nights when she really needed
it.
As for Harry, he struggled with what to get him and
finally decided on a Brut cologne gift set with aftershave and a soap on a roap
included. He knew that Harry liked Brut and hey, he figured he could use the
cologne and aftershave. He wasn’t too sure about Harry using the soap on a roap, though. A grin spread across
Peter’s face as he was walking towards the car. He got a mental image of Harry
in the shower singing loudly and off key and swinging the soap around.
As he approached the car, he looked up as he felt
something wet on his cheek.
“Hmmm, looks like it’ll be a white Christmas.” He
murmured, as he noticed the snow beginning to fall.
He fumbled for his keys and unlocked the door of his
old, blue, 1984 Plymouth Horizon. He wasn’t too thrilled with the car, but on
his salary, it was all he could afford. Until he could start pulling in some
real money, a car that could just get him where he needed to go without dying
was all he could hope for at this point.
He put the Wal-Mart bag on the passenger seat beside
the CVS bag and put the key in the ignition as he closed the door. He laughed
as the car started up.
“Oh my God, you mean the car is actually going to
run again? Quick, call Ripley’s Believe It or Not!” He said, out loud.
He shook his head and grinned. The stress of trying
to Christmas shop with what little money he could scrap together was beginning
to affect his mind. Besides, it helped to have a sense of humor especially when
you had to protect the city constantly. As the car pulled out of the parking
spot, Peter let out a yell.
“It’s alive! It’s aliiiiiiiiiiive!” he said as he
turned towards the front entrance.
“Geez, Parker. You are going off the deep end.” He
said to himself. “It’s a good thing MJ or Harry didn’t see you. They probably
would have you committed.”
Peter turned serious at that thought. He hoped that
everyone liked their presents. He hated being such a skinflint especially with
Aunt May, but he had no choice. Money was tight. He hoped everyone would
understand.
“Especially, MJ.” He thought aloud as he glanced
over at the CVS bag that the bear was in. “God, I wish I could give her the
world instead of just giving her a little stuffed bear and some perfume.”
Mary Jane had been on his mind, lately. It seemed
like only yesterday that the funeral happened and now all of a sudden it was
almost Christmas. One month and it felt like an eternity. Peter sighed. He had
to take his mind off of this. He turned on the radio and found some Christmas
music. He smiled as he listened to “Jingle Bell Rock” playing. He was starting
to feel better when all of a sudden he heard “Blue Christmas” come on. His eyes
began to tear up as he listened to the lyrics. After a moment, he couldn’t
stand it anymore and turned off the radio. But, in the now silent car, his
thoughts began to return to her.
“I was a fool to have just walked away like that.
Her heart was breaking and I said nothing, just walked away like any of the
other men in her life would have done. And now, I can’t eat. I can’t sleep and
worst of all I’m losing my concentration. I can’t do that. I can’t afford to
make mistakes, especially when I’m fighting criminals. I have to do something.
I have to tell her. I’ll go nuts eventually and then what good will I be to MJ
or to anyone else? It’s not worth it. I can’t live like this and I know she
can’t either. I saw how she was at the funeral. I’m betting she’s suffering
just as much as I am. No, I need to tell her. I need to be with her. I need to
hold her. I need to have her in my life everyday, no matter what the risk. But,
how to break it to her?”
He sighed as he racked his brain searching for the
right way to let her know his secret identity. He glanced back over at the CVS
bag and suddenly, an idea formed in his head.
“Hmmm, there is a little something extra I can give
you, besides your bear, MJ.” He said, with a grin.
He drove the rest of the way home filled with
excitement and wishing that it was Christmas Eve already.

Part Two
"Shit" Peter muttered as he ran out the
door.
He had just helped end a standoff where a man was
holding his wife and two year old daughter at gunpoint in their house. He had
managed to sneak in and stop him, but it took some time. The guy had several
automatic weapons and he had not been afraid to use them, firing at the police
several times. It was mainly because of his agility and spider sense that he
had been able to get the upper hand and knock him out long enough for the
police to move in.
All that fighting and now he was late for the
Christmas party.
"Sheesh, I can never get a break,” he said to
himself as he pulled on his coat and grabbed the sack with the gifts in it.
He turned off the lights, locked the door and ran to
the elevator. Normally, he would have just webslinged over. But, the snow was
swirling around so much; he knew he wouldn't be able to see properly. Plus, the
fact that it was colder than Hell and although the car didn't have much of a heater,
it was better than swinging through the ice-cold air.
He opened the elevator door and holding his coat
against him, hurried to the car. He opened the car door, put the bag in the
drivers seat and closed the door. He breathed a sigh of relief as the car
started again and looking both ways, hurried out into traffic.
He was so worried about getting to the mansion that
he had not realized how fast he was actually going until he looked up and saw
the police lights in the rearview mirror. Peter's mouth dropped open.
"AW, CRAP!" he screamed out.
Sighing heavily, he found an empty parking spot and
pulled in. He watched as the police car pulled in behind him and sighed.
"Great, just great." he muttered. "As
if I weren't late enough already."
He rolled down the window as he saw the officer
approach. He put on a fake smile as the officer stopped at his window and bent
over to look at him.
“Evening. Do you know how fast you were going?” he
asked.
*Not as fast as I go when I web sling. * Peter
thought to himself.
“Um…no.” he said, out loud.
“You were going 60 miles per hour in a 55 mile per
hour zone.”
Peter blinked. That was it?
“Um, well, see I’m sorry, but my…aunt is in the
hospital and I was trying to get to her.” He said, figuring that would sound
better than saying I was trying to get to a Christmas party.
“Well, I’m afraid she’s just going to have to wait
now. License and registration please.”
Peter sighed as he opened the glove compartment and
found his registration. He got his wallet from his back pocket and pulled out
his driver’s license. As he gave both to the officer, he nodded at him.
“One moment.” He said.
Peter rolled up the window as the officer walked
back to his car and sat glaring at the reflection of the police car in his
rearview mirror.
“I can’t believe this.” He muttered. “Why me? I was
only going 5 miles over the speed limit. Why don’t you help me by going after
the murders and rapists I bust for you instead of trying to fill your quota by
writing me this ticket?”
He realized he had gone over the speed limit and
legally the cop had the right to pull him over. But, most of the time if you
were only going 5 miles over, they let you slide. Peter sighed deeply. Harry
and Mary Jane were probably worried about him by now.
He sat there drumming his fingers on the steering
wheel as he muttered “C’mon, hurry up.” To himself. Finally, after twenty
minutes, he saw the cop emerge from the car and walk up to him. Peter rolled
down the window as the cop handed back his license and registration.
“I’m giving you just a warning this time. I want you
to be more careful and drive safely.” The officer said, in a condescending
tone.
*Gee, you’re gonna let me off? How generous of you.
* Peter thought, sarcastically.
He nodded at the cop, and as the cop nodded back and
walked back to the cruiser. Peter rolled up the window and glared once more at
the reflection.
“Schmuck.” He muttered to himself.
He started the car up and carefully pulled out again
into traffic making sure to keep his eye on the speed limit.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
“Peter. Where have you been? We’ve been worried
about you.” Harry said, as he opened the door.
“Oh…I, uh…got stuck in traffic on the way here.” He
lied. “The roads were pretty slick. So, everyone took it slow.”
Harry nodded.
“Well, you got here safe. That’s the important
part.” He said.
He took Peter’s coat as Mary Jane came up and hugged
him.
“Hey, Tiger. Merry Christmas.” She said.
Peter hugged her back. Just seeing her again made
everything he had suffered today worthwhile.
“Merry Christmas, MJ.” He replied.
Harry returned after putting Peter’s coat away.
“Um…there’s snack food in the dining room. I’ll show
you where that is since this house is so big.” He said.
He motioned for Peter to follow him. He and Mary
Jane followed Harry into the dining room. Peter’s stomach growled as he saw the
chips and dip and veggie trays and soda laid out for them. He hadn’t eaten all
day. Nodding his thanks, he grabbed a plate and along with everyone else,
filled it up with snack food and grabbed a can of Coke.
Once they were finished, Harry led them upstairs
into the den. Peter whistled as he saw the huge Christmas tree in the corner of
the room.
“It’s beautiful, Harry.” He said, pointing to it.
Harry grinned.
“Yup, it is. But it was bear to get up by myself.
You won’t believe how many pieces there were to it.”
“Well, you could have called me, I would have helped
you.” Peter said.
“Yeah, me too, Harry.” Mary Jane agreed.
Harry laughed.
“Nah, that’s okay. I wanted to do it on my own. It
was something to do when I got bored.” He said. “Well, make yourselves at
home.” He said pointing to the seats.
Peter settled down onto a plush couch and Mary Jane
sat down next to him. Harry seated himself across from them in a matching chair
and for the next half hour, they munched on their food as they made small talk.
As they were talking, Peter was aware that Mary Jane was slowly inching towards
him until she was right next to his body. He smelled her White Diamonds perfume
and hoped that she really would like her present. He felt embarrassed that he
had not spent that much on her.
As they finished eating, Harry nodded towards the
tree.
“Ready to open gifts?” he asked.
Peter and Mary Jane nodded. Peter reached down by
the couch and retrieved his bag while Mary Jane followed Harry to the tree and
retrieved her gifts. She smiled at Peter as she sat back down beside him.
“Hope you like my gift, Tiger.” She whispered.
“Hope you like mine too.” He whispered back.
They passed out their presents to each other, deciding
to wait and let everyone open theirs one at a time. Once they were finished,
Peter and Mary Jane nodded to Harry to indicate they wanted him to go first.
Harry nodded and opened his gift from Mary Jane. He laughed as he opened the
box and saw the black gloves and matching scarf.
“Aw, thanks MJ. I need these. My others were getting
pretty worn.” He said, smiling at her.
“You’re welcome. I’m glad you needed them.” Mary
Jane said, pleased.
He unwrapped his gift from Peter next and smiled.
“Brut! I needed this too.”
Peter grinned.
“It’s the only thing I could think of to get you.”
Harry nodded.
“This is great. I can always use more. Never used
the soap on a roap before.” He said laughing. “But I’ll use it too. Thanks
Pete.”
Peter nodded. He glanced over at Mary Jane.
“You go next, Pete.” She said.
Peter nodded.
He unwrapped the gift from Mary Jane and grinned
when he saw that she had also gotten him the same glove and scarf set. Mary
Jane blushed.
“I had no idea what to get either of you, so I
figured you both could use these.” She said, sheepishly.
“No! I’m glad you got it, MJ. I do need it. Thanks!”
he said.
“Um…look underneath it all. I put something else in
there for you.” She said.
Peter lifted the gloves and scarf out of the box.
His eyes lit up as he noticed a little tiger key chain at the bottom.
“I saw that and thought of you.” She said.
Peter grinned as he fought back tears.
“I love it.” He said, simply.
Reluctantly, he put the gloves and scarf back over
the key chain and set it beside him. He opened the gift from Harry and took in
a sharp breath as he stared at the digital camera.
Harry frowned as he noticed Peter’s reaction.
“You don’t like it?” he asked, nervously.
Peter nodded.
“No, it’s great. But you didn’t have to spend so
much on me. I know how expensive these are.” He said, fingering the box.
“Aw, it’s okay, Pete. You’ve been a great friend. I
was happy to get it for you. Besides, I figured, being a photographer and all,
that you would have fun with it.”
Peter nodded and smiled at Harry.
“I definitely will, Harry, Thanks.”
Peter sat the box down and both he and Harry looked
at Mary Jane.
Mary Jane picked up Harry’s gift and opened it. She
stared for a moment at the tiny blue box and opened it. Her eyes widened as she
stared at the diamond ring inside. Peter stared at Mary Jane and began to get a
sickly feeling in the pit of his stomach. He
suddenly felt like a cheapskate.
Mary Jane looked up at Harry.
“It’s a friendship ring, MJ. I thought you might
like it.” Harry explained.
Mary Jane picked up the ring and turned it over,
staring at it in wonder.
“Is it really…a diamond?” she asked, softly.
Harry nodded.
“Yup, I can’t stand that cheap cubic zirconia stuff.
Besides, you deserve a diamond anyway.”
Mary Jane put the diamond back in the box and smiled
at Harry, too stunned to say anything. She looked over at Peter and frowned as
she noticed him staring at her with a sheepish look. She reached down and
picked up the gift bag from him, staring for a moment and smiling at the Victorian
angel depicted on it. She opened the bag and removed the gift paper. She gasped
and tears came to her eyes as she pulled the angel bear and the perfume out.
She sniffed softly as she fingered the satin wings.
“Oh, Peter. It’s beautiful.” She said, softly.
“You like it?” Peter said, hesitantly.
“I love it. I love it so much.” Mary Jane said.
“Thank you so much, Peter and thank you so much for the perfume. It’s my
favorite.”
Peter smiled.
*I know. * He thought to himself.
Mary Jane kissed him on the cheek.
“Thank you, Tiger.” She whispered in his ear.
Peter grinned, feeling giddy as he realized that
Mary Jane really did love his gift to her. He glanced over at Harry and saw a
brief look of envy pass over his face before he smiled at them.
“Well, I’m glad everyone likes their gifts.” He
said.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
“Thanks so much for coming. It was the best
Christmas I’ve had in years.” Harry said to Peter and Mary Jane as they were
pulling on their coats.
“Thanks so much for inviting us Harry. And, thanks
for the digital camera. I love it.” Peter said.
Harry grinned at Peter and looked over at Mary Jane.
“Yes, thank you.” Mary Jane said.
“You like the ring, MJ?” Harry prompted.
Mary Jane glanced over at Peter and then smiled at
him.
“Yes, Harry. Thank you.” She said, politely.
“Well, I’ll talk to you too later then. Have a merry
Christmas and tell Aunt May I said hello.” Harry said, glancing at Peter.
“I will, Harry. You have a merry Christmas too.”
Peter said.
He waited until Mary Jane was through the door
before he followed her out. As he walked along behind her, he felt as though he
was walking on air. He was so glad that Mary Jane had loved his gift so much.
His grin widened as he hoped she would like his other gift just as much.
He walked Mary Jane to her car and after a brief
kiss; he walked back to his own. He had to hurry home and get changed back into
Spider-Man.
*-----------------------------*-----------------------------*-----------------------------*
Part Three
Peter pulled on his Spider-Man mask and opened the
balcony doors. He smiled as he saw that the wind and snow had died down. He was
glad of that. He didn’t want to injure or kill himself trying to get to Mary
Jane’s apartment. He closed the doors and leapt up onto the railing. He gasped
as he slid for a second and then breathed a sigh of relief as his feet stuck.
“Thank God, I have the ability to stick to things.”
He said to himself.
He shot out a web line and swung out towards Mary
Jane’s apartment.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Mary Jane turned off her blow dryer and opened the
bathroom door. As she walked to her dresser to retrieve her robe, she paused
and looked at her Christmas gifts sitting on top of it. She stared for a moment
at the blue box containing the ring and then her eyes fell on the angel bear.
She smiled at it and fingered the white dress it was wearing as she thought of
Peter. Suddenly, she heard a soft rapping on the balcony doors beside her bed.
She pulled back the curtain and smiled as she saw Spider-Man waving at her
outside. She opened the door and shivered slightly at the cold.
“Spider-Man! Merry Christmas.”
“Merry Christmas to you too, MJ.” Peter said.
“Well, won’t you come in?” Mary Jane said, opening
the door wider.
“Thanks” Peter said, as he stepped inside.
He breathed a sigh of relief as he felt the warm
air.
Mary Jane closed the door and went over and sat on
her bed as Peter crouched down in front of it.
“So what have you been up to?” She asked. “I hope
you haven’t had to work on Christmas Eve.”
“A little bit.” Peter admitted, thinking of the
hostage standoff. “Some criminals still choose to commit crimes instead of
spending this time with their families.”
Mary Jane nodded.
“I wish that weren’t so. I would hope that everyone
would want to spend time with the ones they love on Christmas Eve.” She stared
at Peter. “I hope you have family to go to, also.”
Peter nodded.
“I do.”
Mary Jane smiled.
“Do they know you’re Spider-Man?”
Peter laughed.
“Nah, I don’t think they would believe me if I told
them.”
Mary Jane laughed.
“No, I guess not.” She said.
“So, did you have a nice Christmas Eve?” Peter
asked.
Mary Jane nodded.
“For the most part, I did.”
“For the most part?” Peter asked.
Mary Jane sighed.
“Yeah. You know Peter.”
“Of course.” Peter said, nodding.
“Well, He and I were at a mutual friend’s house
tonight and well…this friend of ours is pretty wealthy and I think he
embarrassed Peter tonight.”
“Really? How so?”
Mary Jane pointed to the dresser.
“See that blue box and that angel bear. Well, that
blue box contains a very expensive diamond ring and Peter got me that angel
bear. I love both gifts, but I don’t think my friend should have gotten such an
expensive ring. When I was looking at it, I could just see that Peter was
embarrassed and I felt so sorry for him.”
She walked over to the dresser and touched the bear.
“The truth is, Spider-Man. I’ll probably never
really wear the ring except on special occasions. But this bear and perfume, I
can tell Peter chose this because he knew I’d really love it, not because it
was expensive. That’s why I love him so much. He knows me. I’m definitely gonna
wear the perfume just for him and, while I’ll probably put the ring in my
drawer, this bear is gonna stay right here just so I can see it and think of
him.”
Peter felt tears rolling down his cheeks. He
inadvertently let out a small sob. Mary Jane turned and looked at him.
“Spider-Man? Are you okay?” she asked, concerned.
Peter gulped down his tears.
“I’m fine, MJ. I’m just listening to you.” He said,
trying to sound like he wasn’t crying.
He watched Mary Jane fingering the bear and felt a
wave of love wash over him. He knew now that he was making the right decision.
Mary Jane looked over at Peter.
“Oh, I’m sorry. Would you like something to drink or
eat?” she said, embarrassed.
Peter shook his head.
“No, that’s okay, MJ. I’m fine. Actually, I’m here
because I have a gift for you too.”
Mary Jane blinked in surprise.
“You do? Oh my God, Spider-Man, I mean, you don’t
have to. I didn’t buy anything for you.” She said.
Peter held up his hand.
“That’s okay, MJ. You don’t have to buy me anything.
Just knowing you’re alive and well is enough of a Christmas gift for me.”
Mary Jane smiled.
“And I appreciate every time that you’ve rescued me
too, Spider-Man.” She said, softly. “But, what is it you want to give me.”
“Well, I was wondering if I could give you a
Christmas Eve swing through the city.”
Mary Jane’s mouth dropped open.
“Oh my God, Spider-Man, I’d love that.” She said.
“Just a moment, let me change into something warm.”
“Of course.” Peter said, nodding.
He watched as Mary Jane opened her dresser drawer
and pulled out some sweatpants, socks and a sweater. She ran into the bathroom
and after a few moments, emerged fully dressed. As Peter watched her, she
slipped on a pair of tennis shoes and grabbed her coat from her closet. She
grabbed her scarf and gloves off the top of the dresser and put them on.
Finally, she looked over at Peter and grinned.
“All ready.” She said.
Peter nodded and stood up. He opened the door and
put his arm around Mary Jane’s waist knowing that the balcony was slippery.
Mary Jane turned and closed the door and wrapped her arms around Peter’s neck,
Peter grabbed her around the middle and lifted her up slightly. He jumped up on
the railing and shot out a web line.
“Ready?” he said, looking at her.
Mary Jane nodded and Peter swung out. Peter felt her
look around as they swung down the street and he slowed his speed slightly so
that they could both see the apartments on either side. Mary Jane whistled as
she looked at the Christmas lights on the balcony railings.
“It’s so beautiful, Spider-Man.” She said, in his
ear.
*Yes, beautiful. * Peter thought, glancing over at
Mary Jane.
He swung through downtown and after a few moments,
he smiled as he spied Rockefeller Center. He gave one last swing and landed on
a building overlooking it. Mary Jane stared in wonder as they looked down at
the ice skaters and the huge Christmas tree overlooking it all.
“Spider-Man, this is wonderful.” Mary Jane said.
“The view from up here is almost magical.”
“I hoped you’d feel that way.” Peter said, smiling
under his mask.
They stared in silent wonder at the scene before
them. Peter glanced over at Mary Jane as she watched the skaters and held his
breath as he saw how the lighting was giving her an almost angelic appearance.
As he stared, he suddenly got another idea. He was going to reveal himself to
her at this spot, but he suddenly realized that he could think of a better
location than this.
“Mary Jane, I want to show you something else now.”
He whispered.
Mary Jane looked over and smiled at him as she
nodded. She put her arms back around Peter’s neck and he held her close as he
shot out his web line. He jumped off the building and swung past the Christmas
tree going further downtown. As he swung, he began to slowly move up and up as
they began to reach the taller buildings. He heard Mary Jane gasp as the street
began to get farther and farther beneath them and he rubbed her side
protectively, reassuring her that she was safe. He felt Mary Jane relax and he
yelled in her ear.
“Hang on tight, MJ. This last swing is gonna be a
doozy.”
He felt Mary Jane’s grip tighten and she laid her
head on his shoulder. He gripped her as tight as he could around the middle and
kicked out as hard as he could. He felt himself sailing through the air and he
felt Mary Jane’s grip increase. He did a small flip and landed nimbly on the
spire above the Empire State Building. He looked over and smiled at Mary Jane
who now had her eyes shut tight. She opened them as she felt him shift her
weight so that she was sitting on his leg as he crouched on the spire. Mary Jane
gasped as she looked around at the lighted skyline of New York.
“Oh, my God. It’s incredible.” She breathed.
“I hoped you’d think so.” Peter said, rubbing her
back.
Her eyes went from the Chrysler building over to the
twin columns of light of the World Trade Center Memorial and finally out into
the harbor at the Statue of Liberty.
“This is one of the best Christmas gifts I’ve ever
had.” She said.
“There’s more.”
Mary Jane’s eyes widened and she stared at Peter.
“More than this?” she said, in disbelief.
Peter nodded.
“MJ, I want you to take off my mask.” He said. “I
want you to know who I am.”
Mary Jane stared at Peter.
“You do? Are you sure?”
Peter nodded.
“Yes, MJ. I’m sure.” He said.
Mary Jane let go of Peter’s neck as he tightened his
grip on her middle. She reached out and grabbed the seam separating Peter’s
mask from the rest of her costume. Peter smiled as he saw her hesitate.
“Go on, MJ. It’s alright.” He encouraged her.
She pulled off the mask and Peter looked at her as
she stared at him with a stunned expression on her face.
“Oh my God. P-Peter?” she said, barely getting the
words out.
Peter nodded.
“Yes, my love. It’s me.” He said, rubbing her side.
He frowned at her.
“Are you disappointed?”
Mary Jane’s eyes filled with tears.
“Not at all. I dreamed it was you under the mask,
Tiger.” She said. “I’m so glad my dream came true.”
“I’m glad to hear you say that, MJ. I’m glad you
liked all my gifts.”
Mary Jane nodded.
“I do. It was more than I could ever hope for and
the best part is, I know you truly love me.” She said.
Peter nodded.
“I love you more than life itself, MJ. I couldn’t
stand to be apart from you any longer.”
“Neither could I, Tiger.” Mary Jane said.
She leaned forward and kissed Peter passionately
running her fingers over his face and through his hair. Peter kissed back, no
longer feeling the cold air blowing as Mary Jane’s kissed warmed his body and
his soul. They kissed and kissed, both of them never wanting it to end.
Suddenly, Peter’s spider sense went off as he heard
a whirring noise through the wind. He opened his eyes and blinked as light
flooded his eyes. He put his hand to his face and looked past the light to see
a police helicopter aiming its searchlight on them. He averted his as Mary Jane
put her face between his and the searchlight and quickly pulled his mask back
on.
“Whoever you are, you are under arrest for
trespassing.” They heard one of the cops shout out through a loudspeaker.
“Great. As if I haven’t had to deal with the police
enough tonight.” Peter mumbled. “MJ, hold on. I think this is our cue to exit.”
He said.
He felt Mary Jane’s grip around his neck again. He
looked over at the helicopter and gave them a little wave. He tightened his
grip and kicked off the spire. As he and Mary Jane were freefalling towards the
ground, he heard the cop shout into the loudspeaker.
“GET BACK HERE!”
“Yeah, right. Dream on.” Peter muttered.
As he neared the top of the next largest building,
he shot out a web line and swung down and away before the helicopter could do anything
about it.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
“Ah, that was an adventure.” Peter said, as they
walked through Mary Jane’s balcony doors.
“It sure was, Tiger.” Mary Jane agreed.
She stared at Peter and ran his finger down his
chest.
“You must be awfully cold in that wet costume,
Peter. Why don’t you take it off and crawl into bed with me?”
Peter stood silently, a goofy grin plastered on his
face.
“Well, Tiger?” Mary Jane said, laughing. “What are
you waiting for, next Christmas?”
Peter laughed with her as he took off his mask.
“No, I think I’ll just let you unwrap this Christmas
gift right now.” He said.
Mary Jane smiled.
“That’s more like it.” She said. “And you can unwrap
yours.”
Peter smiled as he let Mary Jane peel off his
costume. He had a feeling that it was going to be a very happy new year for
both of them. He sighed as he undressed Mary Jane and they crawled into bed
together. He put her arms around her and pulling her close, he breathed in her
ear.
“Merry Christmas, my love.” He said.
“Merry Christmas, Tiger.” She replied, kissing him.
Peter sighed as he held her close. He had to admit
as he and Mary Jane fell asleep, that this was the best Christmas ever.
