Archive: Not worth bothering about

Warnings: None apart from the serious lack of beta reading, but I just knocked this up in the last ten minutes and wanted to get it out before the Yahoo demon takes the service away.

Yahoo Down Time

By Kay De'Vil.

A blood curdling cry echoed from the basement laboratories drawing the residence of the Cottage down to find out what was wrong with their resident computer expert. Entering the basement Ironhorse glanced at Blackwood, the sight that greeted them hadn't been one either man had expected, it wasn't pretty either.

Norton Drake resident computer expert and general mister cool was sat hugging the monitor tears streaming down his face. Moving cautiously towards the obviously distressed man, Harrison pulled up a chair and sat beside him, his hand resting upon the other mans' shoulder. "Norton what's wrong... is it your mom?" questioned Harrison his hand rubbing soothing circles into Norton's back

"Mom... no mom's fine" replied Norton wiping a tear from his cheek and looking at Harrison and Paul with glistening eyes and a quivering lower lip

"Then what is it Norton, what's wrong?" questioned Harrison as he grabbed a tissue from the box on the corner of the computer desk and handed it to Norton.

As the tears began to fall again Harrison looked beseechingly at Ironhorse who simply shrugged and leaned back against the wall. Folding his arms across his chest Ironhorse turned his attention away from the crying Norton to the e-mail he could just make out displayed upon Norton's screen. Raising an eyebrow as he read the subject line of the e-mail he pushed up off the wall and stepped closer to the computer screen hardly believing what was happening.

'Subject: ADMIN: Yahoo services down for upgrade'

Harrison was still trying to calm the distressed computer expert when he heard a groan coming from behind him, turning he was shocked to see all the colour drain from Ironhorses face. Reaching out his hand to steady the now swaying soldier Harrison looked between the two distressed men, not yet understand what the cause of their distress was. "Damn it will someone please explain what is going on here!" he demanded as he guided Ironhorse down into a nearby chair.

All Ironhorse could do was point at the screen, his eyes wide with shock, his face drained of all colour. Norton reached out his hand to Ironhorse and gripped the soldiers' limp hand that rested upon the table, silently offering his support to his companion in misery.

Turning to face the screen Harrison read the e-mail then looked at the two distressed men in disbelief "You have got to be kidding me... all this because Yahoo are taking their service down for the weekend?" he demanded standing up and glaring down at the two men

"A whole weekend?" questioned Ironhorse looking at Harrison in sorrow

"That's what it says" snapped Harrison "Now what the hell is wrong with you two, its just a damned chat list"

"You are so wrong man, its more than just a chat list!" exclaimed Norton

"Oh for gods sake you two are acting like someone has died!" throwing his hands up into the air Harrison turned away from them and started towards the elevator. "I've had enough of this... you two can morn the loss of your list all you want" stepping into the elevator he watched as Ironhorse moved to Nortons' side and rested his hand on the computer experts shoulder. Shaking his head as the elevator doors closed Harrison sighed a small tear appearing in the corner of his eye as he thought of his Internet family he would be out of contact with for the next 48 hours. Wiping away the tear he stepped out of the elevator and headed straight to his office, securing the door behind himself he quickly booted up his computer and started to type away sending messages to his friends.

The End
