[Chat Stories] 2 - Run Brian Run

By Kay De'Vil.

Explanation of the following three stories

OK I'm about to post three stories inspired from tonight's chat but before I do I need to make a few explinations so they make some sense (yeah right like anything I do makes sense)

On the RC Chat we are plagued by three things:

Criminal #1: The Lag Monster

This is pretty self explanitory, the egroups chat service for the last two weeks has been terrible for lag.

Strangely enough after Paul V's The Lag Monster was written the lag monster vanished, hopefully for good.

Criminal #2: Typo Demon a.k.a 'Brian'

Brian is the name we eventually ended up calling the typo demon after I made a typo in channel and typed in brian instead of brain...

Brian is harder to kill and has therefore warrented two stories both of which are going to be posted.

Criminal #3: RDOD (Revolving Door Of Death)

This particular criminal appears to have it in for Marqaisa and occasionally Wesa, it hasn't struck me so Marq has said she shall be writting this story in an attempt to vanquish this terrible beast.

OK enough with the explinations... on with the stories.

Remember feedback wanted, needed.. I NEED MY FIX!! :?)

[Chat Stories] 2 - Run Brian Run

By Kay De'Vil.

Suzanne slammed her pen down and growled in frustration, rubbing wearily at her face she reached out to grab the bottle of white out that had become permanently stationed at her desk.

Stood outside her office Paul watched for a moment then shook his head, deciding it would be better to talk with the microbiologist later he quietly backed away from her office. It wasn't that he was scared of her, after all he was a Special Forces officer, and no this was more of a tactical retreat. He had learned very early in his partnership with the civilians that when Suzanne was aggravated or angry about something it was best to avoid her at all costs.

As he moved over to Norton who was sat at his computer console he heard a similar growl of frustration from the computer expert, but where Suzanne had simply growled Norton gave a name to his frustrations "Damn it Brain leave me alone!"

Confused Paul looked around but could see no one or no thing that could possibly be the barer of the name Brain. Shaking his head Paul decided to leave Norton alone as well, which meant he only had one option left open to him in the form of company and that was Harrison.

Stepping into the elevator Paul shook his head, what exactly was going on today, the civilians appeared to be annoyed about something and he had absolutely no idea what it was. All he had to go on was the name Norton had muttered.

The elevator doors opened and Paul headed for Harrison's office but as he stood just outside the door he heard Harrison growling "Brian!"

"Who is this Brian?" questioned Paul to himself before he knocked on the door to Harrison's office

"Come in" called Harrison

As Paul entered he noticed that Harrison was reaching for a bottle of white out, as he thought about it he began to see a pattern to the events. Suzanne how growled as she reached for the white out, Norton had growled and told Brian to leave him alone as he deleted something and now Harrison invoked Brian's name as he too reached for the white out. Who or what was this Brian and why did it have the power to make the civilians make errors in their work.

Harrison looked up at and smiled at Paul "What can I do for you Colonel?" he questioned setting aside the white out

"Who or what is this Brian I keep hearing about today?" questioned Paul

Harrison burst out laughing and shook his head "Don't tell me, he's struck Norton and Suzanne as well"

Paul just nodded and stood awaiting an explanation

"You see Colonel Brian is a typo demon. Well he's basically what the girls on the RC list call the creature that makes them make typos. Actually the name is Kay's fault, but Marq and Wesa thought it fitted so it kind of stuck" explained Harrison

"This typo demon, it strikes often?" questioned Paul concerned

"Oh yeah, every night from what I can gather"

"Sounds like its time someone took it out" commented Paul

"How do you expect to take out a typo demon?" questioned Harrison

Paul just smiled a knowing smile, turned and left Harrison's office. Shaking his head Harrison watched as Paul closed the door behind himself, then he grabbed the forgotten bottle of white out and used it to correct his latest spelling error on a long page of errors.

Closing his bedroom door Paul moved over to his footlocker and opened it, Harrison and the others had no idea what he had tackled many a creature in his years as a Special Forces officer. One of those creatures had included a typo demon that had attacked General Wilson during the annual report.

Popping open a secret compartment in his footlocker Paul smiled at the weapons inside, these where far from the standard military issue. He had had to search long and hard for these all those years ago but they had been worth it, as the typo demon had never attacked General Wilson before.

Removing a silver rifle from the bottom of the footlocker he checked it was loaded then grabbed two spare clips from the box and secured them in his belt. "Bring it on Brian I'm ready for you" he muttered to himself before closing the footlocker again and leaving his bedroom.

The first place Paul checked was down in the basement lab, after all hadn't Brian attacked two of his friends down there? As he stepped out of the elevator he was aware of the curious glances both Norton and Suzanne shot him but he ignored it, slowly lowering a pair of special goggled down over his eyes.

Brian appeared in the corner of Suzanne's lab stood over her shoulder his hand wresting upon hers in preparation to make he write the wrong word, or misspell something. When Brian spotted Paul he swallowed hard and made a dash for the door.

Quickly moving to block Brian, Paul lost sight of him for a moment. Slowly turning in a circle he used the goggles to search the basement, as he turned to the stair well he caught a fleeting glimpse of Brian vanishing up the stairs.

Cursing Paul set off after him, jogging up the stairs he paused at the top to scan for Brian. Seeing no sign of him he began to work his way through the house checking each room one by one.

A curse from Debi's room alerted Paul to Brian's location. Opening the door to Debi's room he spotted Brian stood beside Debi, despite the fact Paul was after him Brian clearly hadn't been able to resist effecting Debi as she worked on her homework.

Debi glanced up at Paul as he entered her room and was shocked by his appearance, raising a questioning eyebrow Debi waited for an explanation. She didn't get one.

The moment Brian spotted Paul he made a dash for the open window, before Paul could get a shot off the typo demon had jumped out the window and was running across the lawn towards the perimeter fence.

Turning and running out of Debi's room Paul left the Cottage by the side entrance and ran after Brian, as he closed in the demon he caught sight of him making a dash for the perimeter wall. Raising his gun Paul took careful aim.

As Brian pulled himself up onto the top of the wall, his butt clearly in Paul's aim, the Colonel fired.

Just before Brian vanished over the other side of the wall Paul heard what sounded suspiciously like a yelp as the capsule of white out hit Brain in the butt.

Grinning to himself Paul shouldered the silver rifle and shouted "And don't come back!" before turning and heading back inside.

Down the road Brian rubbed at his white out covered butt and sighed, he certainly wouldn't be going back there again. NO way, now how not in this lifetime!

The end... or so we thought
