I have a dream

a dream of love and joy and happiness

I have a dream

a dream about you and me together

I have a nightmare

a nightmare of hate and anger and sadness

I have a nightmare

a nightmare about you and me apart

In my sleep there are no shades of grey

In my sleep there's only black and white

And there's just one way

And your love is light

But in my waking hours there's no dividing line

And I fear to be led by love

Lest I cross that line without knowing

So in my waking hours I do not dare to love you
