Heartbreak today as Kaneohe took a 3-1 lead into the 9th inning against the league's top team.  Closer John Hiller comes in with his sub-1.00 ERA to put the final touches on a great win.  But it wasn't meant to be.

Mordecai Brown goes 8 innings in the team's second combined shutout.  The Bronx Escalades manage only 4 hits, 2 off Brown and 2 in the 9th of Mark Prior.
On offense, Charlie Gehringer hits 2 triples, giving him 12 on the season.  Ginger Beaumont hits his second triple of the year, and steals 2 bases.

While the team is struggling, one player is rewriting his rookie season.  Charlie Gehringer hit 17 triples in 1926.  Converted to a 162 game season, that would be 18.  Here in game 67, Gehringer hits his 18th triple of the season.
The feat is made even more enjoyable as the Hammerheads win 11-1, over the hard-luck West Palm Pilots.
