Kane's career started when Paul
Bearer revealed to the world and to The Undertaker that Undertaker's half
brother were alive. Paul Bearer carried on claiming that Kane was alive and
that Undertaker had killed Kane's parents by setting the house on fire. Also
that Kane was waiting to get revenge on him.
All of these claims came true during The Undertaker vs Shawn Micheals Hell
in a Cell match at Badd Blood 1997 when all of a sudden the lights went out
and there was an explosion. Out came Paul Bearer along side a 7' foot, well,
Monster with a mask because of the burns. The Undertaker just couldn't
believe his eyes. Kane then ripped the door off the Hell in a Cell by hand
entered the ring. Both monsters stared into eachother's eyes. Kane then did
his famous Hellfire, kicked Undertaker lifted him up onto his shoulder,
placed his head between his knees, drilled it into the mat with a Tombstone
Piledriver an left the ring with Undertaker out cold. All Shawn Micheals
had to do was to cover Undertaker and he won the then know as WWF
Championship.
Kane wasn't finished with The
Undertaker, it was just the beginning. Kane and Paul Bearer went out
destroying every WWF Superstar because Undertaker refused to fight his own
flesh & blood, which lead up to a feud with Vader, where they fought in a
mask vs mask match. Kane won and Paul Bearer put Vader's mask on. For a
while it looked as if Kane had left Paul Bearer to unite with his brother
but at the Royal Rumble of 1998, Undertaker fought yet again Shawn Micheals
in a casket match. All of the DX (Degeneration-X) members came to the ring
to help & support Shawn Micheals, but Kane helped his brother, defending him
from DX but when they were gone Kane turned his attention to The Undertaker.
Kane chokeslammed him into the casket and Paul Bearer came down. Together
they locked up The Undertaker in the casket, poured gas on it and set it on
fire.
Finally when Undertaker returned a few weeks later, he and Kane agreed to a
match at Wrestlemania which was one of the most historical matches ever.
WrestleMania XIV:
At WrestleMania XIV Kane & Pete Rose 's classic encounters started
when Pete Rose provoked a few of Boston's Baseball players. Suddenly there
was an explosion and Kane entered the ring. Pete Rose was scared to death,
trying to make deals, even offering money but Kane refused and gave him a
bone crunching Tombstone Piledriver to the delight of the crowd.
Kane vs The Undertaker
Both men entered the ring and
stepped toe to toe, staring in eachother's eyes.
The bell rang and both memn exchanged shots and blows to the head. Neither
of them showed mercy. Kane managed to hit a Tombstone, 1...2..but Undertaker
kicked out. Undertaker then also tombstone Kane but Kane kicked out as well.
Undertaker hit another one but Kane kicked out again showing his resilliance.
But when Undertaker delivered the 3rd Tombstone Kane stayed down and
Undertaker could catch a win. After the match Kane hit a tombstone, not on
the canvas but onto a hard, cruel steel chair.
On Raw the following night Kane & Paul Bearer told the Undertaker that they
would meet yet again in a match at Unforgiven where the ring would be
surrounded by fire and where the Stipulation is: The person who gets caught
on fire is the loser - an Inferno Match.
At Unforgiven, Kane lost the match again where his arm got caught on fire.
After that match, Kane wanted
to move onto bigger things like the WWF Championship. At that time the belt
was held by non other than Stone Cold Steve Austin. The only way Kane could
get that title shot was by having another match with The Undertaker in a #1
contender's match. Luckily for Kane, he won that match due to a little help
from Mankind and it was set. At King of the Ring it would be Kane vs The
Texas Rattlesnake, Stone Cold Steve Austin an a First Blood Match and as an
added Stipulation, where Kane spoke for the first time, if Kane loses then
he would set himself on fire.
King of the Ring 1998:
In that match Kane had an
advantage, because he wore red suit and a mask covering his hole face, it
was hard to make him bleed and hard to see if he was bleeding.
During the match, Vince McMahon lowered the Hell in a Cell, so that it would
be a First Blood Hell in a Cell Match including Kane's stipulation.
When Kane shoved Stone Cold into the referee, Mankind entered the ring qith
a steel chair but Stone Cold just delivered a stunner each to Kane & Mankind.
Suddenly Undertaker also interfered in the match but Undertaker shocked the
crowd when he hit the Rattlesnake with a steel chair, making him bleed.
Austin carried on delivering punches to Kane but when the referee came to
his feet and saw the blood on his face, he signalled for the bell and Kane
became the WWF Champion. Later on Undertaker revealed why he acted the way
he did. The Reason was that he didn't want to see Kane set himself on fire
again.
Unfortunately though, Kane lost his title the following night to Stone Cold.
After a short time Mankind & Kane captured the Tag Team Titles, defeating
The New Age Outlaws. Then they lost their titles to Undertaker & Stone Cold,
but recauptured them a while later in August.
With Undertaker meeting Stone Cold for the WWF Title at Summerslam, a rumor
began stating that Undertaker & Kane had set their differences a side. These
rumors came true as both men walked to the ring for first time ever on
August 24 on Raw. The first thing Kane did was attacking his father Paul
Bearer. He and Taker then destroyed Mankind, by delivering a Spike
Tombstone Piledriver.
Together they were called "The Brothers of Destruction."
If you're wondering what happened to the Tag Titles, Kane & Mankind were
scheduled to defend them at Summerslam 1998 in a dumpster match against the
New Age Outlaws. But Mankind had to defend them on his won as Kane was no
where to be seen. When Mankind finally suceeded in opening the Dumpster lid,
out came the Big Red Monster, Kane. Kane hit Mankind in the head with a
sledgehammer. By that, Kane & Mankind lost the Tag Titles.
For the rest of the summer, The Brothers of Destruction destroyed nearly
everyone, showing that 'Blood is thicker than water'. With Breakdown coming
up, Kane & 'Taker made a deal with Vince McMahon: At Breakdown, Stone Cold
vs Undertaker vs Kane in triple threat match, the only way Kane or
Undertaker could win, was by defeating Stone Cold and not eachother.
At Breakdown, The Brothers of Destruction worked together as a team druing
the match but each time one of them wanted to pin Stone Cold, one of them
pulled the other one off. In the end Kane & 'Taker pinned Stone Cold at the
same time. But as there couldn't be 2 champions, Vince McMahon promised to
make a decision the following night on Raw.
Just as Vince was about to name the champion, Stone Cold drove a zamboni to
the ring and assaulted Vince. Since Vince was so angry with Kane & 'Taker ,
he made a match for the WWF Championship at the next PPV "Judgement Day". As
Vince carried on harrassing the tow brothers, they attacked Vince crushing
his ankle between the ring steps.
