NASEEM

Naseem, A horse of supreme type, elegant with a beautiful head and very expressive eyes. Naseem's greatest feature was the long fine neck with an extremely thin throatlatch. Naseem had a slightly long back, but good structure to the front legs. A good shoulder, the croup is noted to be less than level. Also, the hind legs had a tendency to stand out somewhat behind the body.

The line of Naseem should logically begin with
Skowronek... one of the most important horses in the history of the breed. Skowronek was the sire of only 40 foals ... but his influence was immeasurable. More halter champions can be traced to him in direct sire line than any other Arabian stallion. Naseem was undoubtedly one of Skowronek's finest sons. Born in 1922 in England, Naseem left England at the age of 14 (during the 1936 Crabbet sale to the Russians) to become one of the foundation stallions at Tersk. Naseem was used at Tersk for 17 years. He died in 1953 at the age of 33. Line successors of Naseem extended through Negativ and Negativ's son, *Salon. Horses of the Naseem line are Siglavi in type ... best described as exotic.

Naseem Conformation: Upright, long neck, long back, fine throatlatch, good front legs, and hind legs away from body, excellent motion.

Naseem reflects an upright, long neck and fine throatlatch that are the hallmarks of this line. We note the same characteristics in the type drawing. Here, however, we note that the hind legs are shown somewhat away from the body and also that Naseem's back was rather long.

Naseem's sire
Skowronek reflected the ultimate in type with beautiful arch of neck and extreme beauty. In comparison with Skowronek, it appears, that Naseem's neck was probably a bit longer than his sire's.

These special contributions that Naseem could potentially make in breeding. But some of Naseem's breeding characteristics were less than perfect. In spite of the fact that on occasion, an extra bit of length came through in the back, a bit of roundness to the croup and less than perfect hind legs. Specifically, the elegant front end with arch and length to the neck, beautiful head with expressive eyes... the entire look of a top class horse with style and elegance.

Negativ, a son of Naseem, demonstrated a shorter coupled back and better hindquarters than Naseem, but he had less elegance and beauty to the neck, throatlatch and head than Naseem. Negativ's dam Taraszcza is a mare with good structure with less than an exotic head.

The Naseem son *
Salon could not have been created with a Priboj, Arax or Kann look. It took the progenitor, Naseem, to create this special stallion. In *Salon we see a bit of extra length to the back and less than level croup. But, most importantly, we note that the "essence" of Naseem has remained. A beautiful long neck with superb arch and a thin, delicate throatlatch. *Salon has been an outstanding contributor as a sire and his best foals are even better than he is... a supreme compliment to any breeding stallion.

*Palmira is a *
Salon daughter. She reflects the Naseem heritage, fineness of the neck, thin throatlatch and lovely head. In addition, Palmira has the structural addition of a Priboj line through her dam, Ptashka ... providing overall strength and function that is readily apparent. *Palmira is the dam or *Pristan, Peleng and Proba, dam of the beautiful stallion Kais.

*Muscat, 1980 Scottstale Show Champion, 1980 Canadian National Champion and 1980 US National CHampion Stallion is the outstanding representative of the Naseem line. *Muscat's head is beautiful and powerful, but not exotic. He has large expressive eyes and he has a lot of charisma. *Muscat's front end is elegant ... highlighted by an extremely long neck and fine throatlatch. Overall, *Muscat is a stallion with great balance and harmony of proportion reflective of the best virtues of the Naseem line.

45 years of dedicated breeding (1936 sale of Naseem to Russia through the present) has produced these four outstanding individuals ... Naseem, Negativ, *
Salon, *Muscat. Each stallion is unique in his own way but still manifests the same distinctive traits of elegance, uprightness and beauty.

*Muscats full brother *Moment is a bigger, although somewhat plainer horse than *Muscat. But the substance of the Naseem line carried through in this fine stallion.

Only one stallion of the Crabbet importation had progeny selected for breeding at Tersk, that stallion was the
Skowronek son Naseem. Between 1936 and 1951, Naseem was used extensively at Tersk where he produced 87 purebred foals and 50 Half-Arabian foals. Naseem sired 45 purebred sons, however, only six were retained for breeding. The best Naseem son was Negatiw (Negativ) born in 1945 to the Polish bred Taraszcza.
