| Amelia's car.... Parking her car ever so carefully, Amelia grabbed her purse and took her keys out of the ignition. Opening the car door, she got out of her car and walked as fast as she could to the front door of her apartment building. Running up to the first floor instead of taking the elevator, she ran around the corner, almost crashing into the side wall. Coming to her door, she put her keys in the lock. Before she could even turn the key, her door was automatically pulled opened and there stood her very anrgy father to her suprise. Looking her father straight in the eyes, she saw hatered and anger. Moving inside, away from Mr. Jacobs, Amelia was met with her mother and Mya. There was complete slience with a tense vibe in the room. Putting down her purse, she knew what was going to happen and it wasn't going to be pretty. Sitting down on one of her table stools, she crossed her legs and looked at each person, waiting for one of them to open their mouths. "Amelia where have you been for the past two days? Mya has been worried sick about you? She came home and you weren't there. What ever it is you better have an good explanation for it," said Mrs. Jacobs, giving Amelia an stern look. "I was at Justin's house mother. I went over at his house because he had something important to tell me and ofcourse there was a rain storm so, I stayed for the night. I also stay at his house the next day and the day after that too. For Mya to be worrying about me shocking because she lost her best freind privillages awhile ago," said Amelia, watching the shocked looks come over their faces. "Justin? That white boy that we have forbidden you to be with? Why were there more than you were supposed too?,"screamed Mr. Jacobs. "Yes, father. It is none of ya'll's bussiness. What happened is between Justin and I and it will stay that way," said Amelia, looking straight into her parents eyes. "What has happened to my little girl?," said Mr. Jacobs. "Dad I am still your little girl. I've just grown up and became my own woman. I don't need to follow all of your strict rules, I have my own. I'm a twenty year old woman for god sakes and no, Justin did not put me up to this. I have been thinking this way for a long time," said Amelia. "Yes, I agree, you have grown, but not the way your father and I wanted you too,"said Mrs. Jacobs. "By that you mean, the racist shit. Mom, I will never hold anything against another race. What ever ya'll have against whites is your problem not mines. I guess you could call me different because I always had my own opinion on things that you never would agree too. I've said this many times, Justin is different. He looked beyond the color of my skin to see me and I did the same to him. Why can't ya'll just open your eyes and see that he is making me happy?," relpied Amelia, getting up from the stool to sit next to her parents. "Speaking for your mother and I, we will never change our views or our minds. Does he really make you that happy, for you to go against your parents wishes? Shanelle, your mother, gave birth to you and this is how you treat her," yelled Mr. Jcaobs, pointing at Amelia. "What! I have always tried to be the best daughter you could have. Tanisha was always ya'll's favorite, she followed all the rules and never did anything that you didn't like. That... that father is a trained animal and I will not be that way. I love momma and you so much and it kills me to see that no matter what I do, it will never make you happy. Yes, Justin does make me happy, very happy. We've been friends for awhile now and all hes done is be there for me and I want you guys to do that. He knows....about you guys not liking him beacause of his race and he wishes just as much as I do that you would look past that," cried Amelia. "I don't give a damn about what Justin thinks. How dare you call your sister an trained animal. You are definitely not my child and that has made me come to an decision. If you don't leave Justin, then your mother and I will have no choice but to dis-own you and I want an answer now,"said Mr. Jacobs, leaving an shocked and sad face on Amelia. Looking around the room at the faces of her supposed loved ones with tears coming from her eyes, she couldn't believe that her relationship with Justin is what brought her parents to dis-own her. The tears coming down from her eyes were tears of sadness and betrayal from her family and friend. Was Justin more important for her to risk her family? Is it right for her parents to make her chose their racist ways over possibly love? Why did her best friend hurt her in ways that no friend should ever do?. Those were the many thoughts ran through her head as she came to the conclusion of her answer. "I can't believe that you are making me do this. You're my blood," said Amelia, shaking her head. "Then that should make your answer much easier, darling," said Mrs. Jacobs. "No, it doesn't. Mom and dad, the answer is no. I won't leave Justin, I just can't. Even though you are my parents, the ones who gave me life, I can't follow your ways. It will just make me unhappy and leave me bitter for the rest of my life. I know that if Na na was here, she would have never pulled a stunt like this on me because she would have loved me enough to stand by my decisons," said Amelia, while her voiced cracked with pain. "Well then, James lets go we have our answer," said Mrs. Jacobs, grabbing her purse and walking towards the door with Mr. Jacobs whos jaw was stiff. "I'll see you tomorrow afternoon, Mrs and Mr. Jacobs," said Mya, with a bright smile on her face. "Ok, sweetie," relpied Mrs. Jacobs," and Amelia, when he finds someone of his own status and race, don't come crying to mommy and daddy because we won't be there." "Wow, so, Amelia, I'll be heading out now, so bye," said Mya, with a cherry smile. Looking at the door a second time as it closed, she couldn't hold it in any longer. More fresh tears bursted out of her eyes and slid down her cheeks. This was it, she didn't have anyone and none of her family memebers would be there for her.Covering her eyes with her hands, she pulled her legs up and put her head down on her knees, leting all of the hurtful tears flow.
