Well, after brief altercations with fellow Kanakas, it has transpired that none of us can remember precisely what it is that we do not derive our name from. This is most likely due to collective amnesia caused by the Vengeful Sky People, on one of their more malicious days. However, we did reach the concensus that we do not derive our name from any common or dictionary-derived definition of said word, but from some far more obtuse and illogical source/event (which we also cannot remember). It is safe to say that we are not affiliated at all with any kind of coconut-bearing native you may happen to encounter.
