| About Me |
| My name is Cheong, Kam-Weng.
I was born in Malacca (Melaka), one of the 13 states in Malaysia. I am currently working in Singapore, a neighboring country south of Malaysia. Malacca is the historical state of Malaysia. It was founded in the 15th century. Malacca was once the greatest trading state in all of South-East Asia. The complete series of European incursions in Malaysia -- Portuguese, Dutch and British -- were all played out here, and Malacca still bears testament to their presence. ***** Before 1995, the only foreign country that I've visited was Singapore, which can be reached via express bus or train. In Jan 1995, I took my first flight overseas, flying over the Pacific Ocean to the United States of America, where I undertook my undergraduate study. I pursued my bachelor degree at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Wisconsin is a state in the mid-west region of US. Its capital is Madison, about 3 hours car drive from Chicago. The university was founded in 1848 and has since being ranked as one of the top-tier public schools. ***** During my stay in the US, I began to learn the fun and joy of traveling. To date, I have already been to some places in Asia, Europe and the US. Lately, I have taken up photography as a hobby and this has reinforced my desire to travel more. ***** This site is meant to keep a log of places I have visited and to share with my friends of my travel experiences, stories and photos. |
