| Review - A Beautiful Mind |
| Because of loyalty to the national movie of the moment I was originally very sceptical about this film, I thought it was going to be another one of those weepy American things. But I was wrong (thankfully!). I really liked this movie! I also have a bit of a thing against Russel Crowe so its even more impressive that it won me over. I loved the feel of the movie, sort of regretful, mysterious, exciting, sad all together. The score also caught my attention, the music was perfectly suited I think. Great atmosphere! I was surprised to see the dude from A Knights Tale as the room mate, it was a shame that he wasn't real cause he was a cool character. Anyway, the story was a fairly average one of a man struggling against the odds but the imaginative way it was created for film, and the way, as an audience, you are sucked in to believing in the delusional figures is really neat. It was kinda sad the way his whole exciting interesting reality was stripped away from him, and how the delusions tried to make him feel guilty for ignoring them. All sorts of interesting ideas, certainly enough to keep me interested. And to finish it off it has a rather bittersweet ending that left me with mixed emotions. As an extra bonus the music for the end credits is a lovley piece with Charlotte Church - worth sitting through. :) Right, now I'm off to get the soundtrack. Yvonne |
