Mary Jackson began her piano studies at the age of five in Ladysmith, on Vancouver  Island. At seventeen, she moved to Victoria to study with Robin Wood at the University  of Victoria. As a Suzuki Method specialist, Mary studied and instructed at Suzuki workshops and summer schools in B.C., Alberta, Washington, Oregon, California, Wisconsin and Japan, and became a teacher trainer for the Suzuki Association of the Americas.
Mary's involvement in opera and musical theatre in Victoria led to studies in voice and voice pedagogy at the Victoria Conservatory of Music. With her husband, Chuck Harman, and their blended family, Mary moved to Kamloops in 1994, and has been active in the musical life of the community through teaching, performing and volunteering. She teaches music to the pre-school and junior kindergarten classes at KamloopsChristianSchool, directs the Kamloops Happy Choristers (seniors' choir), and offers piano and voice lessons in her Brocklehurst home. Although several of her former students have successfully embraced music as a profession, Mary enjoys students of all ages and abilities, and welcomes anyone who wishes to study with her.
