This creature is the rare mountain-dwelling Gumu, older cousin of the common gryphon. Elegant and shy, the Gumu is actually quite adventuresome, often exploring far past their territorial mountain caves to survey their surroundings, as far as modern human cities. However, their natural timidity has prevented them from making extensive human contact, and they choose to remain largely unseen. This beautiful Gumu was bold enough to pose so I could sketch her 3-26-04
Inspired in biology class, and plagued by these lyrics stuck in my head, this pencil sketch was created. About 4 months later, I finally learned that it was Elton John who sang it. Maybe that was why none of my friends knew it...
