The Magic Litter

We'd had such a great time showing Magic, but the time had come to mate her...you tend to agonise over these things especially when you've got a bitch that wins all the time..."Is it going to ruin her for the show ring", "Will she be OK"...and all that sort of thing.

We mated her and set about preparing for this "special" litter, the weeks passed and we couldn't see any change in her at all, the ultrasound and Vet check  at 4 weeks showed that "there was nothing there" so we kept her in the show ring and she kept on winning.....until one day we thought she looked a bit different, not gaiting quite as well, so another trip to the Vet....WE'VE GOT PUPS IN THERE....and only 2 weeks to go.

In all our litters of Basset Hounds over the years we've never had a bitch like this, she kept them tucked up under her ribs right up until the last week.

When the day came she just popped them out effortlessly, just like everything else she does.

This has been the most fabulous litter, Magic has been the best mum...and Milo's their dad.

	Beautiful mum fed them all a bit too well and that's why this little one had to have her hindquarter put in a sling, so the muscle could catch up to the bone growth....this photo was taken at 4  weeks and 2 weeks  later she was perfectly normal again.
