Warrior's Quest: The Dragonball Chronicles 25
Zhen walked over to the motionless girl. He knelt by her. Part of him hated her for what she did to him, for betraying him. Part of him wanted to blast her straight to hell right now. But another part of him was compassionate about her. He remembered how she risked her life for him. It was almost like he didn't care about her betrayal anymore.
"Fuck it!" he finally concluded. He then picked her up and started walking to the others.
"What do you plan to do with her?" Popo asked.
"Nothing really. She can stay with us." Zhen replied.
Monroe grabbed Zhen by the arm. "Are you crazy?! Maybe you don't remember, Zhenny, but this is the same girl who stole the Dragonball from us!"
"I also remember when she took a blast for us, too, Monroe." Zhen answered. "I don't know why she did it, but I'm grateful."
"I say it's a mistake. We can't trust her." Monroe insisted.
Zhen said, "Let me handle this my way, Monroe."
Zhen turned to Popo and asked, "Is there anywhere I can lay her?"
Popo said, "This way," and led the way into the little cabin. Zhen followed Popo into a room where there was a bed. He laid Rhea on the bed carefully and walked back outside. Dende and Popo went inside. Monroe was waiting outside for Zhen. Piccolo was standing near the edge of the station.
Zhen had an idea. "Monroe, what if Piccolo trained us?"
Monroe was taken back by the question. "That would be cool, Zhenny, but why would we need training? We already know how to fight?"
"You can never stop learning, Monroe. Besides, remember how badly defeated we got today? And how easily Piccolo defeated her? This guy can teach us a few things."
"Good point." Monroe said. He thought for a moment. Finally, he said, "Why not? If Piccolo can help us get stronger, then I'm all for it!"
Zhen and Monroe immediately flew towards him. "Excuse me, Piccolo, may we speak with you?" Zhen asked.
     Piccolo turned. "What you want?"
Zhen spoke again, "Sir, me and my friend were wondering, if you don't mind, if you can train us?"
"I don't train anyone anymore, boy." Piccolo responded.
     Monroe asked, "Why not?"
Piccolo snapped, "That's none of your business!!!"
Monroe backed off. Zhen persisted. "Excuse us, sir, we didn't mean any offense. We just want to become the best we can be, and we feel you can help us do that."
Piccolo's face softened a little. "I'm sorry, boy, but I can't help you." He then flew off.
Zhen and Monroe were disappointed. They went back the little house. Dende and Popo were sitting by a table.
"Hey, Dende, what's with Piccolo?" Monroe asked. "Why doesn't he teach anymore?"
"Well, son, it's all because of Marron. You see, Marron is the daughter of Krillin, one of the Z fighters and Eighteen, who used to be an android. Marron was also Piccolo's student when her parents died. She was happy. Then she met and fell in love with an evil shaman called Nakano. Piccolo tried to prevent them from seeing each other, but they couldn't be apart. She ran away from him and she wasn't to be heard of again, at least for a while. She came back a year later trying to take over this station like she did today, but she wasn't as strong as she is now, so I stopped her. She escaped and vowed vengeance. That was the last I've seen her. I later heard that at some point she was pregnant. She was struck by lightning while the baby was still in the womb. She obviously survived, but rumors is that the child did not."
"You think it could be her?" Zhen asked, referring to Rhea.
"Maybe. There's no way to know for sure." Dende said. "Anyway, Piccolo blames himself for her fall and swore never to teach another student."
     "That's too bad." Monroe said.
"Well, I won't give up." Zhen said.
