Camera Lens
Through it I look
It was the best
The sun at its brightest
Colors so vivid
Alive and screaming
How come this hole
Small as it is
A new world is shown
With the naked eye
The Willow tree looks bland
Brown and green
Were the only colors that stand
But then I peeped
Through that small hole
Now there was glimmering gold
Seeping from the brown and green that I saw
The cat that was staring
Gloom in his eyes
Sad as his ash skin
He purrs and stretches
And then, yet again
As I looked through the lens
The catοΏ½s eye had a sparkle
And his ash skin a dazzle
Then there were mushrooms
After the rain they came
Popping one by one
Looking like boils on the ground
So I tried one more time
Looking through the hole that was small
The mushrooms turned into candies
Sold in a candy store
Utter amazement
This little hole has brought me
Ugly things turn into beauty
Dull things shine a new
A better look at life
Fresh and poles apart
A world like this, I never knew
Existed right before my eyes

I made this poem one afternoon after I saw my friend Rachel taking pictures using her manual SLR. She took photos of us and we were just acting all goofy. We were having so much fun. Then I remembered my Film110 days. It was one of my most memorable semesters. I get to look at and experience things from a different angle. It taught me how to appreciate the beauty even in the most absurd things.
