Koninginnedag

Or, Queens' Day, to celebrate the Queen's Birthday on 30 April.  Funny thing is that the current Queen's birthday is in January.  It's still celebrated on the last day of April because the weather is so much nicer.  On this day the streets of Hollands' cities are transformed into large flea markets.  In the larger cities, people start "saving" their spot a day or two in advance.

There was live music-- some mobile, some on stage-- everywhere.

This is korfbal; it's played primarily in Holland and Belgium.

Orange flags and people everywhere.

Traditional musicians in traditional costume.  I couldn't get close enough to photograph the dancers.

More people-- enjoying the carnival.

This was from Queens' Day, but it's typical of everyday Dutch life-- sitting in front of a cafe, drinking beer or coffee, and people-watching.
