Maggie was a birthday gift to my younger sister Cynthia Ann and she is a English/American Bulldog.  My mom, being a neat freak, never would have let us have an inside dog before, but thanks to my spoiled little sister(hee hee), we got Maggie.  She was named her after the Rod Stewart song and is the love of my dad's life!!  She has replaced Cynthia as the baby of the family.  There are numerous funny and odd tricks that Maggie can do but her favorite trick is being a couch potato!
Jackie was a present given to Carol Carlson after she sadly lost her companion Spider (he had originally been Carol's mother's dog, but upon her death, Spider relocated to Houston to be with Carol). Carol was in love with chihuahuas but knew that since Spider, Jack had warned her NO MORE CHIHUAHUAS!!!!  One day, shopping at Trader's Villiage, she fell in love with a tiny little black ball of fur.  The young puppy fit perfectly in the palm of Carol's hand and instantly clung to her.  When Jack and Kris got home, boy were they in for a surprise.  The long name is due to having too many good name ideas.  Every year Carol gets a piece from the Dresden Collection.  She had decided she rather have the dog than a piece that year. Gloria was Carol's mother's name and this dog was replacing Gloria's dog who passed away.  Jackie is Jack's nickname (when they are mushy and lovey dovey). Kristine was due to the dog being born on Kris's birthday, and Lee is a family name.  Now we just call her Jackie!

Tribute to our pets waiting for us on the other side..
After suffering the loss of our dog Kam, we both agreed that a Lab would be just what our growing family needed.  I searched for some time on Petfinder.com and came across two very beautiful Labs.  One was a Chocolate Lab named Lucky and the other was a Yellow Lab (possible Golden Retriever mix) named Dexter. We contacted both of their fosters and waited to set up appoinments.  Dexter's foster contacted us first and off we went to Kingwood.  The drive was well over an hour and Kris was so tired and grumpy the whole way there.  But the moment Kris laid eyes on Dexter, it was LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT! Within hours, Dexter was on his way home with us and our lives have never been the same since.  Everything we could ever want or imagine in a perfect dog, we have in Dexter.  He does have some silly little quirks and he can be a total monkey at times but not a day goes by that we don't both agree that he was one of the best decisions we ever made!  We had thought at first that we wanted to have two dogs but we figured that we would wait until after the baby arrives to bring another canine family member.  Oh by the way, the chocolate Lab was adopted just a few days later and found a wonderful forever home!
After losing Abby, Jack & Carol Carlson swore that they would NEVER get another dog.   Jackie was completely happy about that but this oath would be short lived.  A few weeks before Valentines 2004, Carol took a new way home and went thru the Home Depot parking lot.  There out of the corner of her eye she spotted some people selling AKC Black Lab puppies.  On a whim she went and looked at them and instantly could not control herself and purchased one of the two remaining puppies. Thus a new love affair began and Jack soon christianed him Toby (after Toby Keith the country singer).  We sware that Toby has brought new life to Jack and a new pain to Jackie..heehee..Toby's parents are both AKC and are very HUGE dogs. His father weighed in at over 100lbs!! At only 17 weeks Toby already weighed 40lb!!  Toby LOVES to run and play with his sister Jackie and his new newphew Dexter and is in love with his sister-in-law Maggie Mae!  All we need now is that chocolate lab and we will have a full set of labs!
