During your journey throughout the Mushroom Kingdom, you will have many Battles. These Battles will be with many different enemies with different attacks and a vast ammount of magic to combat against.
Some of these enemies will require different skills you have helped Mario develope. These skills could be just haveing a powerful Hammer attack or the ability to defind against Poisons. This is what the Badges are for!
You find a total of 80 Badges in your travels. You might find them in ? Boxes, or be given them. Also, collect Star Pieces to buy 15 Badges from Meriow on Shooting Star Summit. They are almost everywhere.
There is some what of a down side to the power of the Badges. Each Badge uses a number of points from 0 to 7 called Badge Points, or BP. Mario has some BP already! You can only Equipt Badges (with their own BP) that add up to be the same or less than your ammount of BP. Example; you have 10 BP. You could put on 2 Badges with 5 BP each, or one Badge with 7 and another with 0 and one with 3, and so on. You can increase your BP, if you want, when you level! (I think the total number you can have is 30...they do have limits, saddly.)
Also, not all the Badges you get are different. Some of them are the same; HP Plus and FP Plus are 2 examples of repeated Badges. The reason you might like to have more than one of something is because if you have them Equipted at one time, you get twic4e as much of that power. Example; an HP Plus gives you 5 extra Hit Points. If you put on 2 HP Pluses, you would have 10 extra Hit Points, if you put on 3 you'd get 15 Hit Points. |
