He stood there, watching the eggs with interest. The first one to hatch was a large red who chose the strange cat who called himself Morrir, a name particularly suited to him for his almost skull like face patterns. The next two... yellow as the sun and mirror images of each other chose, of course, the two humans who were mirror images of each other.

He watches with amusement, wondering how in the world the two would ever be told apart now, not that they could ever have been told apart before.

Two more eggs hatched, spilling out a two headed yellow hydra and a green dragon marked with purple flames. He turns his head slightly to watch the green pick her chosen and walk off, then turned back in time to see the Baerkaen right the double headed hydra and bond with it.

Kei smiles slightly, two heads, one for each soul, amazing how the dragon, or hydra in this case, suited its bondmate so perfectly. The hydra even had a combined name like a Baerkaen would, interesting.

Movement causes him to look back at the eggs where the grey feline was helping a brown dragon out of his shell. Instead of walking off the sands like the other bonds, though, the pair settles down and watches.

The next dragon that hatched had an incredible amount of energy, as her green form barreled over to the sleek brown cat who had arrived with Morrir. She put her paw on the green and both walked off towards where Morrir and the red dragon were.

A stunning silver dragon hatched, then, beautiful and graceful. He chose the other female cat and she, her dragon, the brown dragon, and the brown dragon's bonded move off the sands together.

Medium sized, and colored like flame, and apparently as hot tempered as fire, the red dragon that hatched next hissed at the other eggs, as if warning them away from his chosen. He stopped in front of the strongly built half-angel half-demon being who called himself Shian. That one was a strange choice for any dragon, from what Kei had seen of him, but then again, a dragon's choice was final.

A rather large egg hatched soon after, depositing its purple colored contents on the sands. The purple dragon spreads her wings to let them dry, then walks up to the last remaining female candidate and bonds.

Kei watches them for a bit, then turns back to the sands, his wings folding close against his back. Another egg hatched, this one a fairly large orange colored like the rising sun. The orange lifted his head and bugled to the other dragons, some of which answered back. The orange strutted across the sands, right towards him.

Kei, the best has been saved for last and I am glad of it. I am not sure where you came from but will go back with you should you ever want to!

Kei lowered himself down to look at his dragon, who looked right back at him, "I am not sure about going back but I accept you, Ariake. Now lets go get you some food."

He rose and slowly walks off the sands, helping Ariake whenever he needed it, which wasn't that often. The large sunrise orange dragon seemed to be perfectly suited to walking, especially when the food came into sight, which at that time he gave up all attempts at walking and ran.

Kei laughs and runs after him, dodging candidates and dragons and keeping his tail and wings carefully under control. Ariake finally settled on a pile of food and settled down, eating ravenously. Kei smiles, feeling Ariake inside his mind as the dragon fills his stomach.

He explores the new feelings then turns his head and looks over at the two headed hydra and the Baerkaen, wondering what in the world it would be like to have two souls, each bound to a head.

I think it would be entirely too crowded! I like you just the way you are. Ariake remarks as he pauses for a second in filling his stomach.

"And I like you just the way you are, too," he responds, reaching a hand out and stroking Ariake's head.

Just then Taiin flits in and lands gracefully on Kei's shoulder, looking at Ariake with interest, "And who is this?"

Ariake growls,
I am Ariake! Kei's dragon! And who are you? Hmmm?

"Heyheyhey! Calm down Ariake, I'm Taiin, Kei's Dais Dallean. And for your information, I've been with him for much longer than you ever will be."

Kei reaches up and flicks Taiin's tail, "Stop baiting him, Taiin. Ariake, just ignore him, he's just jealous."

Hmph, fine. Since you insist.

Taiin glares at Kei, bringing his tail around and cleaning it off, "You don't have to go around flicking people's tails, you know. Bad habit that."

Kei shakes his head, wondering what he let himself in for by agreeing to stand as a candidate.

But then you wouldn't have met me!

He grins, "I've a feeling you would have found me anyway, whether I wanted to be found or not."

Of course I would have! You're MY rider after all. Ariake looks up at him with protective eyes, almost like he wasn't going to let anyone near Kei ever again

Kei just smiles and strokes Ariake's head while he goes back to eating.
