Step 4: Convert Your Text to HTML

The fourth step in making a web page is to convert your text to HTML. In this step, you put in all the tags or codes to tell the computer how you want your web site to look.

HTML is a computer language in which tags like these < > are used. These tags are used to add a title, start a new paragraph, use a specific font, and so on. HTML stands for Hyper Text Mark-up Language. You can type the command tags in upper or lower case letters.

These are some basic HTML commands:

<P> starts a new paragraph. At the end of your paragraph, put </p>.

<H1> starts a title. For smaller titles or subheadings, you can use <H2> or <H3>, or so on until <H7>.At the end of your title, put </H1>.

For fancy bold text, put <B> where you want the bold text to start and then put </B> where you want the bold text to end.

If you want italics, put <I> to start and </I> to end

For larger font sizes, use the following code, <font size=�1�> then type your text and end the larger font by typing </font>.

If colors suit your style, just use the code <font color=yellow> to start, then type your text and end with </font>.You can use any color you want. Just substitute blue, green, or red for yellow in the code if you want a new color.
