Step 1: Plan Your Web Page

The very first step to making your web page is to plan it. This means brainstorming ideas for the site and making decisions about the topic.

First, ask, What is my subject? For example, if you want to make a web site about frogs, then your subject is frogs. The subject of my web site is How to make a web site.

Next you need to gather information about your subject for your web site. Get books from the library. Or look your subject up on a search engine on the web. Read all the information that you find and take lots and lots of notes.

Third, organize your information. Decide what topics you are including and which ones you are not including. Decide which notes are most important to include. Put all of the information that you want to include in a logical order.

The last step for planning is to estimate the time you will need to make the site. For example, if you want to make a ten page web site for a report that is due tomorrow, you will not have enough time to complete the site. Depending on your time, you can choose to make a larger or smaller site.

Planning is the first step for making a web page.
