Promises

A promise to protect left unfulfilled,

A desire to love that has been killed.

Burning pain quenched by drowning tears,

darkness ensuing unleashing fear.

Memories of the past drift through the mind,

of times long ago when there was peace to find.

Childhood promises of friendship and devotion,

forever shattered by a careless motion.

Pain

A touch of fire and burning cold,

the pain intensifies murdering the soul.

It twists and contorts the mind to it’s will,

making everything sad and unfulfilled.

Innocence lost and purity raped,

life ever changed, enclosed in a cape.

Light shines above, so far above,

darkness overcomes, this day the last,

tomorrow the soul shall rest

it’s time has come to pass.

Memories of the Past

I see only pain,

I see only death.

The only way I live,

is through everlasting torment.

A light in my way,

only obscures the path,

to my everlasting pain,

my memories of the past.

Israfel

O, Israfel! thy muse of sorrow
How may I ask upon thee to borrow
Some of your infinite grace and melody
To cheer up those unhappy folk
Who grace the world with me?
Sing one of your songs to herald the end
So we must all make amends
For fate and folly and foolish pride
Lest this hellish world we abide.

Losing Hope

Over the years and through my dreams
Gazing back upon them all
I search for lost hope and merciful deeds
As through the endless dark I fall
Across the tragic void of pain I see
A horrid place of dark repulsive shapes
and feelings of sorrow and dismay
Representing the sins of past mistakes
and fearful of them all.

A tear of pain and sigh of defeat
Anguished cries of lost memories
Collapsed and sobbing I try to flee
Through this hopelessly banal reality
Pushing back the fear and flouting my pride
I rush into the dark chasm inside
And draw back behind the shadows to hide
Seeking refuge from this life and this lie.

Through the shadows graceful dance I see
A glimpse of life free from tragedy
A glimmer of hope and the warmth of life
Being consumed by the cold encroaching strife
Gazing intently upon the murderous scene
Seeing hope destroyed and innocence bleed
A desperate cry of sorrow and shame
For I sat and watched and I am to blame.

A wail of compassion overcomes the apathy
That once gripped the soul so tight
A single tear falls upon the debris
Of the shattered hope and light
The darkness of the soul turns to red
As I gaze upon this heinous crime
My mind falters and madness descends
As I make a promise to pursue through time
Until these mistakes I mend
