(1) Vathappally Family

Chacko a predecessor of Kallarackal Family had 6 sons. During the period in AD 1650- 1700, one son settled at Mulamthuruty and established 'Pallipram Kallarackal Family'. Another son Vareeth during the same period settled at 'Kadavil' purayidom and established 'Kallarackal Kadavil Family'. The whereabouts of the other sons are not known. Vareeth who established Kallarackal Kadavil Family had two sons Varkey and Chacko. The elder son Varkey around AD 1700 established Vathappally Family. Younger son Chacko continued in the Kallarackal Kadavil Family.

(2) Koottunkal Family

According to the history said by the Koottunkal Family, in or around AD 1714 one ancestor from Kallarackal Kadavil Family established Koottunkal Family. The ancestor from Kallarackal Kadavil Family, Pallippuram moved to a purayidom/ land, where there is a 'thenga koot' (coconut ware house) and settled there. If that be correct, in that case, Vareeth (1st Generation of Kallarackal Kadavil Family) may have one more son other than Varkey and Chacko as 2nd generation and that son might have established the Koottunkal Family as said in their history. From early time onwards and till now, coconut is the main agriculture product in Pallippuram area. After removing the husk the coconuts are split in to two halves and it were dried in the sun and also in smokehouse and then oil is extracted using oil press (Chakk). The husk or thondu were staked and put in water called 'madalkkuzi' for months to undergo natural processing to take fibre out of it. Extracting fibre and oil from the coconut is the main industry in the locality. Coir matts and mattings are the main industrial products for many centuries and till recently in the Cherthala Taluk. For this purpose coconuts were collected from local growers and stored in a fenced area wherein, there will be a drying yard and a smokehouse and the whole area is called Thenga Koot or Kalam. Usually this will be near a canal or river or lake side for easy transportation through country boats called vallams.

Since this ancestor settled near the Thenga Koot he and his family and the next generation were called Koottunkal. Koottunkal is derived from the words Koot and ankal which jointly means the place where the coconut warehouse stands. In the beginning of the AD 1800, the family was well established, wealthy, and have extensive landed property. Vazhathara Family is branched out from Koottunkal Family. Even before the branching of Vazhathara Family many other families have branched out from the Koottunkal Family.
