Thirteen Ways of Looking at a ...
I
Among the gruesome walls of four,
The only moving thing
Was a shadow in the darkness.
II
I was of three minds,
Like a fear
Mystical, physical and sexual.
III
The hunger crept.
It was a small part of the universe.
IV
A man and a woman
Are one.
A man and a woman and the hunger
Are one.
V
I do not know which to choose,
The beauty of a man
Or the strength of the hunger,
The struggle of the victim
Or just after.
VI
Sensing the pulse in the vein
With a seductive gaze.
The excitement of the chase
Satisfying the thirst.
Limp in the arms
Willing, succembing, desiring
The firey kiss of death.
VII
O thin men of pray,
Why do you imagine you're superior?
Do you not see how we walk among you
We stalk your every move
Your ignorance excites us.
VIII
I know the thirst,
And lust, blood and death;
But I know, too,
Aggressive passion and pleasure
Part of who I am.
IX
The shadow of the hunter
Stood erect watching.
Pearl white teeth showed.
X
At the sight of shadows
Standing in the silver moonlight,
Even the bravest of men
Would cry out sharply.
XI
Through a deserted street
He walked alone.
Once, a fear pierced him,
But as he looked
Into the deep penetrating eyes
He felt serene.
XII
The blood is flowing.
The hunger must be satisfied.
XIII
It was a dark night.
It was windy.
And it was going to rain.
The vampire stood
In between the darkness and the moonlight.
