| Where did I begin? Easy! One day I just went to it! Not so easy to believe? Well, heres the longer version... It started back when I was browsing for a duster. I searched and to my dismay I couldn�t find what fit my taste. To satisfy myself I decided to make one, after all how hard could it be? It was a bold move, given I had never sewn to that magnitude before. As fate would have it, my venture of sewing a duster became a business! Karen�s Koats! In about the mid 1990�s some friends became intrigued with a group called the �National Congress of Old West Shootists� and I decided to brush up on the history and what was considered period correct. As I studied the nineteenth century women�s clothing I became engrossed in the styles and the attention to detail. I had dabbled in making men�s clothing and I now was ready to venture into women�s clothing. I started off simple, with prairie look, but I found that to be under my talent so I decided to expand to the 1870�s and 1880�s elegant styles. So began my journey of making the elegant and the simple styles of the 1870�s � 1890�s! |
