Chittagong Research Society Formed
Chittagong, December 06: A Chittagong Research Society (proposed) was formed yesterday in a meeting held at Chittagong, Bangladesh, according to our correspondent.
Messrs. Noor Kamal, Abul Kalam and Nurul Islam were the three conveners of the meeting, he further added.
About eighty participants, including businessmen, social workers, local journalists, teachers, college and university students participated at the meeting, said Mr. Noor Kamal, one of the conveners.
The meeting made resolution to carry out extensive research works, particularly on Chittagong and Arakan. It also decided to perform social welfare activities and educational uplift programs, including scholarship for poor and meritorious students, he further added.
A 15 member ad-hoc committee was formed for a period of one year, which will launch membership drive, draft a constitution and locate funds for the Society, said Nurul Islam, another convener. ##
