| MY COLLEGE DAYS | ||||||||||||
| I did my Mechanical Engineering from Engineering College Kota, Rajasthan, India. Kota is an industrial city of Rajasthan with the distinction of having 3 sources of power generation at one place. (hydel, thermal, nuclear). The four years that I spent at Kota was actually a roller coaster ride. Lots of fun and infinite enthusiasm. I lived in Hostel I in room number 50. Somehow I have always felt that room number 50 was extremely lucky. Students two batches senior to me who had occupied the room, topped in their department. Considering the less intelligent student that I was, I too managed to get a merit scholarship each year. I had always known this was not due to my efforts but something supernatural :-). I interacted with a lot of people and I am in touch with most of them even now. A mention of my wing-mates over here is a must Vinamra Agarwal (Room 49): - Was always ahead of me in studies and managed to beat me even in the final tally. A great person with an amazing sense of time. Both of us made a great sight to watch on our brown colored Luna TFRs (Luna is a 49cc non geared- motorbike used by a lot of Indian undergrad students to commute from residence to school. It was so popular in the late 80s and early 90s that at one point in time there was a waiting period to get this vehicle! Not to mention a special discount for college students). Vivek Goswami (Room 48): - Was a near encyclopedia with a regimented life style. A true patriot and an amazing debator. Probably he had the most potential among the 5 of us. We joined the same firm after school and had a great time together. He has taught me how to enjoy the present of life without bothering about the future Vinay Lohariwala (Room 47): - The most practical person among all of us. He was a nerd and we shared a lot of special moments having close to 15 cups of tea at a small teashop in front of the college gate (In local language it is called body). He aspired to have his own Pharmaceutical empire and well on the way of making it happen. Vipul Mathur (Room 43): - A person who was always in the aspirational set. His mannerisms and way of conducting himself was always a great motivator to become better. He is a person of extremely good capabilities in different fields. A great marketing kind of guy Other batchmates Mahesh K Jeswani (Gittu) : - He was one of the sweetest guys on campus. Hardworking and absolutely unselfish. We were together in most of the group projects starting from II year in Mechanical Engg. We also shared the same wing in Hostel No. 1. Chandan Sharma : - He was and is still a gem of a person. Probably one of the most helpful guys on campus. He defined selflessness. He was extremely intelligent and an amazingly good singer. He could win any singing competetion hands down. He now teaches Mechanical Engg to Engineering undergraduate students and is pretty famous with his students. Nitin Garg : - He was a brilliant guy and used to be miles ahead of each one of us in the Deptt. A very sharp guy who was sure to make it big in life. Sanjeev Singh : - He was one guy who could effortlessly talk about anything from design concept of Helicopter blades to Gold bonds of London Bank. A guy with amazing hunger for knowledge. He was a bottomless pit for gathering knowledge. He was sure to score in anything other than studies. He took up Software Engineering after an undergrad in Production and Industrial Engg. He now excels in the same and consults global firms on Technology strategy. ( Awesome at Anything except studies!!) Shailendra Kumar Sharma (Shelly): - He was one guy who was extremely dependable. If I were to constitute a team I am sure to pick up this guy. He was so very dependable and full of energy. 3:00 am in the night and if there is something to be done, Shailendra would be your guy. Ayush Saxena: - Ayush represented Chill. He was so cool about pressures of life. So much so that if final exams were on the next day we used to be more worried for him rather than he himself. This cool attitude will make him succeed in life and reach the highest levels of professional career. He now consults top firms on IT strategy. His attitude is amply evident from the cheek to cheek smile. I have spent many memorable evenings chatting about life and its meanings |
