| This distingushed looking chap is John Dunstan Lawley Leech born in 1878 in Reefton, New Zealand and died on 19.05.1915 in Gallipoli. He was married for a short while but his wife died in October 1915 and there were no children of this marriage. His war medals unfortunately were purchased by a private collector when our side of the family thought they were safe in the Hastings RSA and endeavours to have them returned to the family have been fruitless. He fought in WW1 at Gallipoli with my grandfather Alfred Kennedy Sloan (his nephew) and this picture was found in AK Sloan's diary after the war. |
