Vampire Hunter D : Bloodlust

 by Saiyijin Prince

Synopsis
Vampire Hunter D has been hired to track down the notoriously powerful vampire Meier Link, who has kidnapped a human woman, Charlotte Elbourne.  He is to track down Meier at any cost and rescue Charlotte, if she has been changed, then he’s ordered to kill her. This is probably going to be one of D’s toughest missions; the Markus Brothers was also hired for the same bounty and already had a head start.  It a race against time as D stands alone against both sides, the human for the vampire blood in his veins and the vampires for what he does.  When D finally caught up with Meier, he finds out that Charlotte hasn’t been turned yet but when fighting he was distracted by Charlotte’s plea for Meier and now thinks that she actually went with him.  As he pursues his prey as well as to try to figure out what is the right thing to do, D faces countless and dangerous enemies, and a decision he is not sure if he’s right or not.

Video
The art in Bloodlust is absolutely amazing, one of the best I’ve seen.  It is a great improvement from the prequel Vampire Hunter D that exceeds and outdoes the first movie in every way possible.  There are much detail in the characters, clothing, sceneries, movements, backgrounds and weapons with great depth and perfect lighting.  Everything is fluid and all the details are constant through out the whole movie.  The action scenes are just astounding, and the visual effects just add to the already great art.

Audio
I didn’t find anything wrong with the audio; it went great with the video and the audio effects matched perfectly.  Since there is only one audio track, which is only English, the voice acting was great and matched perfectly.  I didn’t find any kind of distortions through out the movie and its soundtrack made the movie even better.  Bloodlust has a great soundtrack that definitely goes well with the mood of the movie, and keeps your heart pumping with excitement.

Packaging
Bloodlust comes with a very cool slipcase with D on the cover with his sword in a cemetery and inside; the DVD case is red with an all black cover with just a red cross in the center.  The menus are pretty cool and have the same great music from the movie and the DVD is packed with a lot of goodies.  Some special features are a behind the scenes features that takes you into he studio of the making of Bloodlust and also interviews with Director and various Voice Actors and artists.  It also has the top ten fan’s favorite scene and much more.  It’s a great value in my opinion.

Personal Opinion
Bloodlust was a great movie that caught me by surprise.  I wasn’t expecting a film with such great art, effects, and soundtrack after seeing the first one.  I really enjoyed this movie, especially for its visual effects and soundtrack, it’s a great movie that I think even a non-anime fan would enjoy.  There are great battles and also has some humor, drama, romance; everything for everybody.  I was surprise that there’s only an English audio
