Video
The video quality of 3x3 eyes OVA #1 is
average to poor. The animation itself runs smooth but there
are many grains, scratches, and hairs on most of the images.
The color quality is moderately good but all of the problems
with scratches on the picture, really ruins the color. I can
only imagine what it would have been like if Pioneer hadn't
made this 120 minute disc dual layered.
The video quality of 3x3 eyes OVA #2 is much better then
the first. Since it was released in 1995 after its
predecessor, the animation runs very smooth, and there are
little if any scratches and grains on the pictures. It shows
the difference of image quality over a few years in animation.
Audio
The Audio track makes up for some of the
video problems. Both English and Japanese tracks are solid,
with a great voice actor cast. Whether you have surround sound
or not, the audio comes from different directions which gets
your alot more immersed in the anime then when it is just
coming straight at you. The Original streamline dub is not on
the dvd, and have never heard it so you be the judge of it.
Not many problems with the audio.
Packaging
The case is a typical double alpha. The
front cover has a picture of the main character smiling in an
evil way, and the back shows the features of the DVD, running
time and some stills of the animation. Thankfully there are
some great extras such as a removable tattoo, image galleries
on both discs, and character pages. Don't let the problems with
the first OVA's video quality fool you, this is a great anime
with an emersion story, and is definitely worth the purchase. Personal Opinion
Yes, ummm
