Ok, I knew It's not a manga, nor an anime, but I read this book when I was little. And it does somehow effect my liking toward Japan when I was young.
However, although my love toward Japan is not that glorious like when I was 10-20(?) years ago. I still like this book. (^.^)
I will not say much because...well..I can't remember it that well, I didn't read it for a long long time. I don't have a book at hand and again I don't have any images. T-T
Anyway, Totto Chan: The Little Girl at the window, or its Japanese name is Madowagi no Totto Chan is the a story of Kuroyanagi Tetsuko's childhood. Kuroyanagi Tetsuko is a TV personality/an actress in Japan.*Yes, people, she is real, so it's not fiction* Well, I didn't interesting in it at first, since the only kind ofbook I like to read was manga. I didn't even have a clue about its existence. It was my mom who bought it, and try to get me reading this book. She is a skillful master for convincing me to do stuff, up to the scary (and annoying) level. ^^; So finally I read it.
This book might be nothing to some people, but when I read it I was a kid and it make me impressed so much. I mean, my school back there is super uber strict and now I was reading about Tomoe Gakuen and I am blown away by that. The school that have railroad car as a classroom is so cool, (^^) but what I like the most is that the students can choose which class they want to study first. Plus when the students wants to go sightseeing, the teacher then take the students out to sightseing right away.
It's not only because of the context that I like, the fact that this school was real was so impressive. Too bad it was blown away in WW2. No, I didn't cry when I read that part (the part I remember crying for is when Rocky died), I was just like.......0_0.....
Again, too bad that I can't remember anything much, and I don't have a book nor a scanner with me right now or I would be posting some images here already.
