In truth, I have always wondered why I felt so restless, why I was always compelled to move on, but as all of do learn about ourselves by what we are drawn to -- those stories and characters that we identify with and come back to repeatedly.
Some call Julia's character Katherine in Mona Lisa Smile a quitter because it was difficult for many of the characters to understand her decision, but as the narrator, Betty, tells us that she realizes that Katherine leaves because she wasn't quitting, but because she was being true to herself.  The box that Wellesley wanted to put her in was not the right fit for her and she made the choice that as much as she had anticipated being there as a teacher, what she had to teach was not conservative or conformed enough -- so rather than fight or justify for her beliefs and whole existence, she made the choide to go where other progressive thinking drew her and to leave tradition for those who need it still.
Personally, I have always been drawn to stories of people who overcome over-whelming odds and difficult experiences and my role models, Abraham Lincoln, Henry David Thoreau, Ralph Waldo Emerson and Oprah speak of the same.  In retrospect and in looking at the present and future, I know I will always be drawn forward beyond tradition, and that like Katherine, I too must be true to who I am and what I am to do with my life, as I appear to wander aimlessly to some, yet with a knowing purpose of my own.
Thank God fo diversity and for the growing understanding that we do not all have to live exactly the same life to co-exist harmoniously.
        The ORIGINAL in YOU
idea and workshops are based simply on the belief of psychology's complete self-realization and self-individuation process.  An attainment of a thorough knowledge and understanding of one's self, which aids each of us in the striving for and the attainment of our full potential, while in the process of aiding us with the tools to know, sometimes understand and always  to respect others in their process.  In the end, it doesn't matter whether one stays or goes, but that one lives their best life, because by consciously making that choice, we best serve not only ourselves, but also our community, locally and globally.
