Computer Memory
Ram- This stands for Random Access Memory. Ram temporarily stores information inside a computer that is turned off.
Rom- This stands for Read Only Memory. Rom is permanent and cannot be changed. Rom stores instructions that help prepare the computer for use each time you turn on the computer.
Bytes- Bytes are used to measure the amount of information a device can store
Byte- One byte is one character. A character can be a number, letter or symbol. One byte consits of eight bits (binary digits-- 1 or 0)

Bit- A bit is the smallest unit of information a computer can process.

Kilobyte- One kilobyte is 1,024 characters. About the length of one page of double -spaced text.

Megabyte- One megabyte is 1,048,576 characters. About the size of a novel.

Gigabyte- One gigabyte is 1,073,741,824 characters. About one thousand novels.
