The sky outside is dark, even though it is late
morning. Storms are coming in…
thunderstorms, lightning and thunder plan to dominate the entire weekend. Standing in the doorway leading to the back
parking lot of the arena, Chamelion stands and watches as the sky illuminates
occasionally with far of lightning blasts.
Thunder rumbles shortly after, and the temperatures begin to fall.
With the storm making its way near, Chamelion leans on the
frame of the open doorway and dives into responding to Don Mega’s latest show.
“Kiddo, either you’ve
been sniffing too much glue, or your head is so far up in the clouds your not
getting a lot of oxygen.. but give it a rest.
What the hell are you really trying to prove here? Think you’re better then I am? Think you’re more devious then I am? After today, you’re going to be disappointed
on two levels.”
Righting himself, Chamelion turns and heads back inside,
shutting the door behind him.
“You think I’m
‘shameless’ to mention the things I’ve done, when all you’ve been doing is
listing how supposedly dangerous you are?
Kiddo, get a clue.. ya don’t capture four world titles among other
accolades by being delicate in the ring… I’ve gone through a lot worse then you
could ever imagine, and I’m still standing here… whether I battle inside a
Bloodlust cage, or a C-4 explosives match.. it matters not.. all I cared about
was the
Walking slowly, Chamelion continues on.
“Well, I used too.. of
course today, I do have more important priorities.. but I must fulfill my
obligations to the company in the process.”
He shrugs softly as he walks.
“A lot of people have
told me I’m not good enough, and in the vast majority of those cases, I have
proven them wrong. I’m not perfect, I do have my share of defeats.. but even when
I’ve lost, I’ve managed to climb even higher in this business. Don’t you ever dare to suggest I’m not good
enough… if you’d paid half the attention you should when it comes to me, you’d
never have spoken those words…and as far as talent goes.. you wouldn’t know
talent if.. well, we know where that cliché is going!”
“I’m not out here to
make any friends… and by now if you can’t understand that I like to have fun
with nicknames.. then I guess it’s just way too far over your head. I don’t need to ask anyone about you, kiddo..
you’re definitely explaining yourself to me quite well on your own.”
A short pause, and he shakes his head.
“I’m not going to touch
that comment about inseminated.. I really don’t know what’s on your mind… but
I’m going to guess: Not much.”
Reaching his locker room, Chamelion puts his hand on the
door knob, then stops. He stares at us.
“Call me what you will,
Kiddo… but if you really believe you can’t see me.. then you won’t know what
hits you until it’s too late! Dust? Dust in your eyes will blind you… could even
cause you to sneeze.. and it’s fine that you act as if you don’t know who I am…
but trust me kiddo, ignorance isn’t bliss.. nor is it an excuse… when you get
dropped, you get dropped.. no ands, ifs or buts about it.. welcome to my game
kiddo.. shut your mouth and open your eyes.. cause the most Devious SOB in the
business today is about to change your world… and there’s not a damned thing
you can do about it… GOT IT?”
With that, Chamelion enters his locker room and slams the
door behind him.
