has fallen on the
The
room is smaller then expected, with only perhaps room for fifty people, with
space between the first row of chairs and the elevated table where each of the
wrestlers and their company will sit.
The conference began promptly at
To
present themselves for their matches, the two have come to the conference in
their wrestling gear, to help project the atmosphere of this giant event. Easing comfortably into their spots, the two
brothers nod to the M.C. to begin.
“Ladies
and Gentlemen, tonight have already been very enlightening with some of the
declarations we have heard, and I’d like to now introduce two men, who will be
in separate matches. Raizzor, teaming
with Alexis Sykes to challenge for the BWF Tag-Team titles, and his brother,
the BWF World Heavyweight champion, Chamelion; set to defend inside the steel
structure known as the Elimination Chamber.”
Applause resounds through out the room, and
the M.C. steps aside to allow Raizzor to stand at the podium. Requiem shifts
out of her seat and joins him by his side.
The M.C. then opens the floor to the reporters, selecting each in turn
to ask their questions. He picks a man
in row two.
“Darrel
Jones here, Raizzor; we’ve seen your reasons for wanting to fight Executioner,
and that you feel taking away their title chance as part of the damage you can
inflict, but honestly, why pair with Alexis now, of all things?’
Raizzor tilts his head slightly.
“I have
teamed with many partners in my career, but few carry a strength that expands
beyond their physical form more then Alexis.
In truth, she has little to no allies in this company, and resulting to
‘Al’ the Bear lead me to make the decision to step in.”
Satisfied, the man sits and the next is
chosen.
“Sir,
now that you’re in this match, your desire to battle Executioner has lead him
to challenge your reasons, saying they’re out dated, and in turn you’ve offered
solid points against his arguments. Why
do you feel he continues to address the issue as if you’re involvement?”
“The man
may have come to terms with that, and does understand my reasons, and that
pleases me, but he still does not understand that it isn’t a matter of him
‘owing’ me a debt for my involvement last year, just that I felt compelled to
do something about what he has done since.
Turning on Kitsune, no matter people’s thoughts about her in general,
still is a reprehensible act, and as I have said before, I feel compelled to
visit the same sort of pain upon Daniel that he ‘executed’ on Kitsune. For no other reason then; I want too.”
The questions continue.
“Raizzor,
The Executioner has commented on wondering why you’ve retracted your earlier
comments about ending his career. Have
you changed your mind concerning such a bold statement.”
A slow smile creeps across Raizzor’s
features.
“Does it
strike anyone else as ironic that the one time I do not repeat a concept, which
most would think a blessing since repetition is a hot topic of discussion, that
Daniel would turn and question me on it?
I would think he’d be pleased that I moved forward after making my
declaration, and no real need to reassuring him of my intentions was necessary. Still, if he misses hearing it from me;
Daniel, I do mean to irrevocably harm you.”
A murmur seeps through the audience, and the
M.C. speaks up.
“We’re
going to be short on time, so I’m going to allow Raizzor to speak his mind for
the next couple of minutes and then turn our attention to the World Champion.
Raizzor?”
With a nod, Raizzor states his final
comments.
“Daniel
has found himself in a corner, along with Adriana and their claws are out, but
the tips are dull. Daniel has dropped
from caring about Kitsune, as a reason to try to save her, to showing no love
and using Blazenwing as an excuse to rid himself of her. He changes his colors more then a….”
“DON’T
YOU DARE SAY IT!”
Everyone turns to Chamelion, who has a wicked
grin on his face and Raizzor looks at him, before conceding.
“I
retract that statement. Never the less,
Daniel and Adriana have proven themselves less then stellar and since people
have been speaking up that it is there time, they have not proven themselves as
well as they should.”
Requiem then nuzzles up to Raizzor so she can
speak into the mic.
“If I
may, I’d like to add that Adriana seems to live by a double standard that
really makes her ugly. Not physically,
as it were, but to disparage Alexis for using childish insults like moron, and
then use it herself later on, strikes me as someone who feels they are above
everyone else, that they should be allowed to do as they please, while others
stay in line.”
Pleased with his wife’s keen hearing, as he
has remarked on before, Raizzor quickly addresses the other two opponents.
“Do not
think we have forgotten about
He touches the ceramic material that protects
his face.
“Had the
two spent a moment to understand me, to look into my past, they would realize
this mask isn’t to hide any fear, but to hide the horrific burns I sustained
when Erik Draven tried to burn me alive at Genesis Six. Since then, while surgery has helped to
restructure most of my features, there is still work to be done, and until such
time I am fully healed, I choose to keep my face hidden. I do not fear
Finished, Raizzor and Requiem return to their
seats and with a smirk, Chamelion hops up to the podium, pokes at the mic,
resulting in a loud tap-tap and coughs once.
“I’d
like to thank the Academy………”
Raizzor’s interrupting cough causes Chamelion
to give him a dirty look and the group of reporters laugh. Shrugging, Chamelion turns back and grins.
“Ok,
Batter up!”
The M.C. Points to a cute red head in the
front row, who stands and presents her question.
“Chamelion,
Sarah Grace here. There has been a lot
of comments sent your way about making a lot of the same comments in each of
your promos, what are your views on these accusations?”
“I knew
that question was coming. I think most,
if not all of my opponents have tried to break me down concerning that issue,
and it comes down to the fact that I am merely attempting to drive home the
cold hard facts, and if any of my opponents could present a valid point,
instead of going over their own tracks every time, I could refrain from having
to reapply the facts. I mean, take Eliminator
for example. He says I ramble and
repeat? Okay, occasionally I do, but
sometimes you have to when teaching Special Ed to a bunch of idiots. The broken record concept likely could be
applied to all of us, anyway, so what difference does it make.”
Sarah nods and sits, as the M.C. points to a
man in the third row.
“Sir,
On the topic of the Eliminator, he enters into this match after winning a
battle royal two weeks ago. Compared to
what it took for the rest of competitors to earn their spots, do you consider
the battle royal a tougher match to get through?”
“That’s
a bit of a 50/50, because while you are competing with a number of individuals,
the concept of winning the match falls to simply taking your opponents over the
top rope. No pinfalls or submissions and
so technical skill kind of goes out the window.
Eliminator mentioned how he beat the likes of Sirus or Executioner to
get into this match, and yet when I go back over the contest, Eliminator was
responsible for only two eliminations; Absolute Zero and Nick Toretto. Now, Zero is one thing, but Toretto could
have been concerned with the potential fall out after earlier being responsible
for the Executioner’s departure from the match.
So, aside from being able to avoid being tossed, in the end
Executioner’s qualifying effort pales in comparison to what the rest of us had
to do to get here.”
Next, a man from the back is given the
opportunity.
“Thanks. I’m Craig Elliot, freelance reporter, and I’d
like to further get your thoughts on Eliminator, who many feel could be a major
threat in your match, and his recent promo.”
“Ah, an
open question with room to breath, love it.
Much like the storm that was brewing over his head in his last bit,
Eliminator is likely a tad more long winded then I am. Eliminator, I hope you’re listening, so pay
close attention: One argument that you seem to like to bring up a lot is; I
talk a lot. What’s wrong with that? Other then it forces you to work harder, and
maybe this is becoming too much for you, so you’re getting frustrated. Tough
shit, kiddo.
Hmm, and you ask me how many times you have to
sit back and listen to my list of victories, whom I beat? I did mention Legend, Executioner and Sirus a
couple of times, but that was only to establish I’ve indeed competed with solid
main eventers, and won. I’d rather talk
about the people I’m going to beat, namely you and the other chamber
members. Am I delusional? Hmmm, if I am, so are you, and Torborg,
Marticus, Clark and Ice. Really, the
double standard is grating.
So you’ve been loyal to this business from the
first day, and that entitles you to win the Chamber match? Where ya been recently? Who cares, since loyalty doesn’t entitle you
to shit. I mean, I left this company per
a disagreement but that doesn’t seem to affect my capabilities any. I wonder, had I been loyal like you; where
would I be today?”
Satisfied, Chamelion waves for the next
reporter to ask their question.
“I
was hoping you could share with us what you think about your opponent’s words
about the match with XTC last week. We’ve
heard that they accuse you of forgetting how close you came to losing, that
your only saving grace was the foot under the ropes.”
Shaking his head in wonderment, Chamelion
obliges a reply.
“Did
I.Q.’s suddenly drop in relation to those guys?
In one of my earlier promos I clearly stated that I got past that match
with a little luck, and the keen eye of a second referee. I’m accused of repeating my comments, but if
these people can’t even remember what I said to begin with, and reaffirm that
stupidity, I am forced to turn back to earlier issues and try to clear things
up, yet again. Yes, I barely survived
that match, and no, I do not think XTC was at any less then his absolute best;
despite people’s claims he was too messed up with his recovery. It was a real contest between two men, and
that’s a concept that is foreign to some of my opponents.”
The questions keep coming, this time in the
form of,
“Your
thoughts on the BWF Funeral that aired today, and that four of your competitors
seemed have gained up on you?”
Laughing good naturally , Chamelion brushes a
long strand of hair out of his face.
“I was amused with the funeral presentation I
saw, as four of the members of the Chamber came together to AGAIN discuss my
streak and it’s potential end? Repeat
much? Oh, and it gets even better, cause
Eliminator just finished accusing me of being paranoid. Heh, just because I may be paranoid, doesn’t
MEAN they’re not out to get me. That
funeral is proof enough. I gotta say;
talk about nailing your own coffin shut.
Honestly, it was the best thing they could have done to certify the
threat that I am. I’m pleased.”
Next!
“Do you feel the name calling that is taking
place lowers the standards of the Elimination Chamber, specifically the use of
Lizard against you, because of your name?”
He
shrugs.
“Eliminator just joins the ever growing list of
people who’ve called me Lizard Boy or some variation. It never bothered me to begin with, but if I
may be allowed a moment of levity, I believe I could come up with a few choice
names for each of them. Let’s see,
there’s Dry Ice Hensely, who when you water down his chances, he rages steam
all over. Cody Clark Bar, looks good in
the wrapper, but a few bites later he’s done. Then Captain Marticus of the
Starship Over-active Imagination, flying off to who knows where. Don’t forget
Robert Tor of Borg, resistance is futile, you will be assimilated into my diamond
world where nothing makes sense, and Eliminator; the reject from American
Gladiators! Was that okay?”
Laughter
flows through the room, easing some of the tension and Chamelion nods
approvingly, and then he points to another lady in the audience to share her
question with him.
“I’d like to turn your attention to Cody
Clark, if I may, as the other champion going into this match, a lot of people
are already talking of his potential victory, and his latest promo attests to
that.”
With a
sigh, Chamelion stands up straight.
“I was waiting for this moment, and I’m going
to end the questioning here, and you can all take notes to what I have to say.”
He
pauses a moment, then dives in.
“I’ve come to realize that
Example of his confusion is repeating the line
‘confident in my ability’ twice in the same breath, he doesn’t have the flow he
started out with, and is beginning to stumble over his own tongue. Coupled with the fact that he’s stealing my
concept about proving the critics wrong, and you have a man fishing for success
with out bait or a hook.
Also, after insulting me he says he’s willing
to shake hands when it’s over if I win?
I grant him that no matter the harsh words expended by all of us, I
credit each of them for the ultimate effort they put forth and have no ill will
in my heart for any of them. It’s been a
matter of doing whatever it takes to outshine them, point out their flaws and
make them look fools, for the sake of elevating myself in the public eye, but they
did no less, and when this is over, should I step from that cage holding two
precious titles on my shoulders, I expect that the doubt everyone has had will
wash away.
And if it doesn’t, oh well. Besides, I hear one Santana Pike is rooting
for me, and who am I to disappoint the lady?”
Again, a
chuckle echoes through out the room, and Chamelion resumes.
“For a moment, let’s turn the attention to
Captain Marticus, whom I’ve been waiting on to make a final appearance and he
has not disappointed me. He accuses me
of nit-picking and yet, like everyone else, chooses to follow suit by doing the
very same. I’m not going to go into
details, because people will see what I mean when they watch our promos, but
suffice it to say; the very idea is to nit pick when someone says something
that leaves them open.”
“Which he did; cause he said that I was overly
concerned about the difference between promos and in ring work, and then he
goes and says since Toxic didn’t put forth any effort promo wise, his efforts
in the ring obviously suffered for it.
Yeah, things do write themselves.
As for my 29-0-1? Please refer to the BWF’s
statement on the matter, not to mention everyone else going along with it. And one final reply before I wrap up. If your serious question concerns the
spelling of my name, then here’s a simple answer even you could understand; A
Chameleon with an ‘E’ is a lizard, and Chamelion, with an “I”, is Me. What more do you want?”
“In closing; Yes, if people want to know, I am
worried, but I always have an outlook that any match could result in a loss,
but that doesn’t mean I’m going to coat my promos in self doubt. My focus is on what I’m capable of doing, the
show I know I can put on, and each of them can doubt me, but even if my BWF
history is marred with ‘less then stellar’ opponents, I do have a long history
in the HiC and PWA that says I’m far better then they could ever conceive. Someone even said I came here with a puffed
up chest, believing my self to be the best here and they are so wrong. The first thing I did when I signed was lay
an open challenge to any one, because I knew no one, and no one knew me. I didn’t immediately go for the world title,
because I needed to prove myself.
I think I have done just that, and that may
very well be what is nagging at the edges of my opponents thoughts, and the
potential that Chamelion could actually walk out the winner is eating away at
them, and they’re throwing pot shots now, hoping just one of them hits me. Sorry kiddos, but your aim has been shoddy,
and it will continue to be. I am the
Most Devious SOB in the business because I will do whatever it takes to win,
and while my BWF career is a bit tame compared to before, that doesn’t change
the fact that I earned that title, and if you really want me to show you why;
then I’ll only be happy to oblige.
He
pauses, leans into the microphone and stares coldly into the camera.
GOT IT?”
With
that, the brothers and Requiem stand, nod to the reporters and exit the room,
to prepare for Happenstance, when someone rings out a question that stops the
two brothers.
“Please, your thoughts on Kyle Cross’s
death?”
Chamelion
turns, his eyes sad.
“It puts a shadow on this event, and for the
sake of the amazing match he and I had, I will try to live up to his standards,
and the respect he had always shown me. Good Night.”
