Quick fade back to Chamelion in his chair as he’s startled out of his reverie.   He gazes up at his brother innocently.

“Yeah?”

“You were spacing.”

“Heh, so I was.  Where was I?”

“Going over XTC’s files for your match with him next week.”

Snapping his fingers, Chamelion sits straight up in his chair and pulls the files towards him.

“Right, right.  A quick review and then I’ll see what direction to take with him.  Can you over see the operations out there while I do this?”

Peering out the door, Raizzor pauses in his response. Finally,

“Yes, I’d been watching from in here, but I understand the need to focus.  I’ll take care of things out there. Have fun.”

Chamelion nods but doesn’t reply as he carefully reads over the highlighted parts of the documents in front of him.  He takes a couple of minutes, before setting them down and smirking.

“Well, XTC, let’s begin with the fact that Yeah, you beat Raizzor before.. did you want a cookie or a pat on the back?  If that’s all you were waiting for, you’ll find cookies all over the BWF, and as for a pat on the back.. maybe a few forearm shots next week will do.  In the HiC, we had a double count out, you and I, but before that; heh, well, I’m a bit ahead of you at this time.  I plan to stay that way, obviously, because of what’s at stake.”

Pausing, Chamelion turns and gathers up the collection of papers and files and neatly collates them while going on.

“Now, I know you hate my family, and of course I can see why. I mean, I did turn you into a Crispy Critter back in the good ol HiC. What did you expect, I was ‘the bad guy’, and I certainly didn’t like you either.  Still, we do tend to defer to history a lot when we discuss each other, but that’s only natural since it helps build up things between us. What is most ironic about the Raizzor fact you keep bringing up, is that you contradict yourself a little.  When I reviewed your previous promos, I heard you say, and I shall quote “I like leaving the past right where it is at, which is behind me. I much rather talk about the present and the future”.  So, decide which is the person you truly are; a man who leaves the past in the past, or a man who lives in the past.   Then there’s another bit about you that I find hypocritical.  You insulted Cody Clark, claiming no one wanted to see a… what were those words again? Oh yeah, a  redneck, beer drinking, chain smoking caveman look alike” as the BWF Primetime Champion.  Funny, the WWE seemed to have a similar ‘hero’ in Stone Cold, where as I personally think the BWF will be better off without a drug addict as its World Champion.

Scrunching his face up in disgust for a moment, he reflects on the last druggie he fought in the HiC, and how he subsequently beat the ever living shit out of him.

Now, Since your arrival here, you’ve had a pretty good record going for you.  You fought Captain Marticus shortly before he challenged for and won the World Title… though, detail wise; he didn’t put up much of a fight, did he? While you lost by a DQ, you still went all out with him.  Same with Mark McNasty, another who didn’t put forth his best… so, while you had a great start, you didn’t have great challenge.  You’re skills had not yet been truly tested.. and once they really were? Against Sirus Moran?  Well, heh, you stumbled, yet again.  I guess that undefeated streak to the BWF Championship you were looking for, didn’t quite come to fruition, did it?”

Sharing his Cheshire like grin with us, he casually holds up his World title, patting it softly as he quietly adds,

“Undefeated, baby!”

With an amused look, he sets it back down on the desk and carries on.

“Still, with the World title on the line, I expect you to go above and beyond the call of duty in your attempt to steal this title from me and go on to the Elimination Chamber.  It would be funny, though, to watch you get your ass handed to you by all those guys, and yeah, sorry kiddo, I don’t see you managing to keep on the level that I’m on, it’s just not your forte.  As it is, getting this shot, now, isn’t so much about you, as it is about me.  Since becoming World Champion, I have not really had the chance to prove myself. I beat Legend to get here, yes, as well as winning the title in my home town.  My battle with Cross at least made me twitchy, but since then; nothing.  It’s been relatively boring and that hasn’t done well to impress the BWF or its fans.  Offering you a title shot, putting myself at risk one week before Happenstance? Now THAT’S a challenge!”

He snaps his fingers at the word ‘That’s’ and nods approvingly.  He then scratches his chin, letting out a warm sigh.

“Granted, Kirlia apparently decided to take away some of my thunder and do the same thing.  In her case though, she has a lot to prove as she’s never really defended that title and has the whole world breathing down her neck for being an unreliable champion.  If she fails Monday and gives the title up to Cody Clark, she will just prove the world right.  I’d feel sorry for her then, honestly, because deep down, in the right time and place; I feel she could shut the critics up just as I plan to do come Happenstance.”

Shrugging, Chamelion shakes his head a couple of times, getting his thoughts back to the task at hand.  He stands, collecting the files and resumes.

“Anyway, back to you, kiddo.  When you first came into the BWF you sprouted some line about coming from a fed that couldn’t handle your talent, but what fed was that, and what happened that for such a talented guy, YOU left? Hmmm?  Then there was the time you talked about how I was now the commissioner and couldn’t compete in the ring cause of, what was it, being too old?  Funny that now, four months later, this old guy in the BWF World Champion, and swinging said title in front of your hungry eyes.  Meanwhile, all you managed to do was have one tag title run, and you couldn’t even hold onto that.  Oh, I know you’ll say you don’t like tag teams, but man, had you kept them, you and Sirus could have done a lot… and when the time came, people would easily say; “Now there’s a future world champion!”  Alas, your distaste for ‘lower-tier’ belts has kept you out of the very spotlight you’ve craved.”

Stuffing the files into the cabinet, he shuts the door and looks back towards us.

“Next week, that light is going to shine on you for a fleeting moment.  This is no Raizzor vs. XTC match, no fluke moment like that time.  There’s no Vulgar Display of Power for me, and I’m not fresh off an injury like I was last time.  It’s just you and me, headlining the final Havok before Happenstance, and when it’s over, all that talk about being the ‘ultimate high’ will be done with, as XTC will no longer be the drug of choice, but a throw a way, long forgotten… now, do I make myself CRYSTAL CLEAR?”

He pauses, and smiles widely.

“Heh, yeah, that was a lame tag line I used to use, wasn’t it?  We can’t always be perfect in what we say, but time and growing up helps us to come to terms with what works for us, and what does not.   I’m the BWF World Champion because I know what works for me, and I will go to Happenstance inside the Elimination Chamber, because frankly, that’s the only possible out come; GOT IT?”
