MOTHS.....

stands for Mothers Of Teenage Home Schoolers.

Any mother of any age children are always welcome! We cater to the teenage years and try and have speakers, tapes, videos, topics that relate to homeschooling the teenage years or college issues. Our mission is for encouragement to help moms to keep on keeping with their homeschooling through the end! We do not focus on any particular way to homeschool but to concentrate on that the true academics is knowing Christ....."Wisdom is the principal thing therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding." Proverbs 4:7 We meet on Friday nights from 7pm-?? at our cottage on Pretty Lake. Any questions or directions to the cottage or to be on my reminder list for seminars I host, meetings, etc. please email at [email protected].

OASIS....

is a support group for Homeschool families in Southwest Michigan.  We meet on the 2nd TUESDAY night of each month (Sept - May) for a Mom's meeting where we explore different homeschool topics.  Our topics range from educational methods and curriculum to very practical home organization.  No matter what age of children you have, the encouragement from each OASIS meeting or activity will be a fresh spot in your month of homeschooling.

Although a Christian group, OASIS welcomes any sincere homeschooling family looking for encouragement and camaraderie.

HOPE....

stands for Homeschoolers of Otsego, Plainwell, Etc.

The goal of HOPE is to provide support to homeschoolers in the Otsego/Plainwell area by meeting monthly, planning occasional field trips and parties, sharing upcoming events, and encouraging each other.  Monthly meetings are facilitated by moms on a rotating basis, and information is shared by all attendees on a specific curricular area such as math, physical education, computer, etc.  HOPE provides rookie moms mentoring relationships with veteran moms, an opportunity for everyone to share struggles and victories, and support for all who attend.  The HOPE group may, in the future, develop a co-op group for the kids to meet regularly as well.

Future Meetings:

Thursday, February 17, 7:00 p.m.        Meet at Northbridge Community Church        Topic:  P.E./Electives

Thursday, March 17, 7:00 p.m.            Meet at Pam Scheffer's house                        Topic:  Teaching History

Contact Caryn Parker at 694-5852 or [email protected] if you would like to join HOPE, get more information, or be on the e-mail list.

KEEP......

(Kalamazoo Eastside Enrichment Program)

is a Christian homeschool Enrichment Program that began in 2003, in the Kalamazoo area.  KEEP is open to any Christian home schooling family dedicated to bringing up their children “in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.” Eph 6:4  We are an autonomous group, but are affiliated KAHSA.

The purpose of KEEP is to provide support to parents to meet other Christians for encouragement and fellowship who are or will be teaching their children at home.  To provide opportunities for educators to share information, resources, and teaching aids.  To provide information on our present legal rights and any relevant new legislation.  To provide opportunities for our children to interact with others who are being taught at home through planned educational and recreational activities. KEEP does not endorse any particular approach to home education.  Although there are a variety of curricula and methods of implementation, maintaining a spirit of unity should be the primary goal, while still encouraging one another in each one’s individual approach to home education.  We are a TOTALLY VOLUNTEER group and will provide you with an opportunity to meet new people and make new friends.  Like a co-op every member of KEEP must help in some area.  Your ideas, and special gifts and skills that God has given you are encouraged and appreciated.

Support Group Meetings are held monthly from September through April.  The purpose of these meetings is to encourage each other in our homeschooling endeavors by having everything from open discussions to guest speakers who can inspire us as we follow the Lord’s command to “train up our children”  Support meetings are for adults only with nursing babies being the only exception.

Support Group Meetings for the remainder of the year are as follows:

Tuesday, March 8, 7:00pm  Favorite Curriculum night

Thursday, April 21 7:00pm  The year in review, and planning for Open House

Meetings are held at the Greve’s house, 6107 N. Sprinkle Road, Kalamazoo
