9:53 PM 9/22/2005 Just got home from the hospital. Mom's surgery went a little longer than expected. She left pre-op for surgery at 4:20 and was done around 7:00pm. I spent a couple of hours with her. They have relocated her IV to her neck, and the surgery seems to have gone okay. They were a little concerned because her oxygen intake went way down at one point, but she is here and doing okay outside of the pain. Mike called to tell her he loves her. He had a very hard day today with pain in his chest. When I talked to him, he did not sound very good. He was going to take his pain medication and head for bed. I have decided to spend some time with the Lord in the morning to share my gratitude with Him for His faithfulness today. Hence, I will be going in to see Mom a little later in the day, and spend about 5 solid hours with her. She will not be coming home probably until Monday. The more rest the better at this point. Her moods have been on a wide swinging motion. We had a long discussion today about acceptance of dying. I asked if she was also allowing herself to be acceptant of living. It was a good conversation. My brother has a couple of his kids over tonight. I will spend sometime getting a little nutrient into my body and then maybe allow a few minutes with God in the hot tub to relax and then sleep. I am so grateful for everyone’s prayers. The prayers mean so much to me. In addition, I am so grateful that the Lord loves us the way he does, especially in times of severe mercy.
