| Shin-Ma No Monogatari: Part 1-Prologue | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| I'm on an Angel/God/Devil/Demon kick. Can you tell? ^_~ Warning: This fic may be offensive to those with strong Christian beliefs. Please don't curse me for writing this. I know it's blasphemy on some level. This fic will probably be different from any other angel devil thing you read before, but please don't send me any holy books. I know this isn't how it works. But let yourself be open to possibilities. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| In the beginning of time, when the land still existed as one, all creatures large and small lived in peace. Earth was a joyful place where Angels, Demons, humans and animals co-existed. There were no lables of species. Only differences in appearance accepted as natural by all. Mixing was commonplace as there were only two types of beings; the dead and the living. The gods and the devils believed that this utopia would last forever. But that was not to be. As time went by, the living started to divide. They separated amongst themselves, refusing to socialize with those that were different. Animals began retreating into the wilderness then further divided amonst themselves. Without the help of these animals, times became hard for the humans. They did not have the strengh of oxan or the speed of a horse. Nor did they have the wool of a sheep to keep themselves warm in the winter. The angels and demons tried their best to help, but their efforts soon became detested and despised. The humans were jealous of the angels and demons' power. They could not fly like the angels could nor control the weather like the demons. This jealousy soon became hate and they turned to their own children, those with mixed blood to extract their vengence. The sacret ones became enraged. Several of the Arc Angels decended and asked the humans why they must shed their own blood. Overcome with fear of the angels' wrath, the humans told a lie. They blamed the gentle demons, exclaiming that they loathed the holy ones and wanted to rid the earth of their existence. They claimed that the demons were evil and treachurous, and begged the angels to save them and have mercy on their souls. Many elders had their doubts and sent messengers to call a meeting. It was then that the humans realized their mistake. Angels and demons have lived in harmony far longer than they could imagine. Their almost eternal life resulted in deep relationships founded upon trust, faith, and love. It had been known to them for some time that angels and demons often bonded. Indeed, several lucky humans were once fortunate enough to witness the sacred bonding ritual. Again, the humans were overcome with fear. Should the angels learn of their deception.... Thus, the villege elders gathered and devised a plan. If the demons were also led to believe that the angels were out to destroy them, then mankind would be saved. The two most powerful beings would be too preoccupied with fighting each other to suspect that they were the culprits. |

| The plan was carried out and the results were just as they expected. Blinded by the pain and rage of the presumed betrayal, discord rang throughout their ranks. Small quarrels bloomed into massive fights, before finally breaking into an all out war. With their awsome powers and control of nature, the earth was devastated by this upheaval. The angels took to the sky and sent hail, thunder, and rain. The demons withdrew to the ground, creating great earthquakes and volcanic eruptions as their ultimatum. The foolish humans did not realize what strife their treachery would cause. Flash floods and flowing lava destroyed their land and homes forcing them to take refuge in the valley of the mountain range. Disease and famine soon spread, killing off most of the human population. Seeing what turmoil that their kin was causing, the gods and the devils asked their respective children to have mercy on the world and end this conflict. Both sides tried to remind them of the friendship they once had, and of the happier times in the past. But the scars of detrayal had cut too deep and neither angel nor demon would reconcile. Thus, the only way to end this potentially eternal battle was by separation. Naturally, the angels with their majestic wings took to the air and claimed the clouds as their home. The demons again took to the earth, and in the deep recesses of its molten core, made fire and brimestone their domicile. |

| Centuries passed but still the hate would not recede. Isolation and over zealous imagination fueled their anger and heightened the feud. Both sides started devising weapons to use against their adversaries. More time passed and almost a thousand years after the start of the war, both sides were ready for battle. The angels had found a way to harness and concentrate their energy into a ring. They assumed that since the demons have lived underground in the darkness for so long that bright light would effectively damage their eyes. The more powerful angels were able to keep this ring of energy flying above their heads. It served as a protective barrier for if their power ever dwindled beyond a certain point, the energy would escape and a brilliant flash would ensue. The less poweful, or younger angels had trouble keeping this energy ring afloat above their heads thus some wore it like a golden crown about their brows. The demons during this time, had also made great advancements in their abilities and powers. Knowing that without wings they would be at a disadvantage, the elder demons devised a way to control the shadows. By concentrating them on a broad plane, then solidifying it with their energy, the demons were able to create giant wings similar to the bats in their caves. But this was not enough. Some angels used spears as their weapons and they would surely lose if they were to go barehanded. Being the rulers of the land, many remembered the farmer's fork used by humans to til the soil. Thus in the blazing heat of the earth, the demons created a weapon made of fire in the same shape of that fork. |

| Now, armed with their new weapons, the two beings engaged in battle again. On and on the war raged, destroying what little was left of the world. Countless lives were lost as the two sides struggled for another 800 years. Again, the gods and devils stepped forward calling for a halt. Their war had caused 2 mass extinctions and if this were to continue, all would be lost. Earth was declared man's land so that no beings with power were to lay foot on it. Two hundred years passed and the earth had efficiently regenerated itself. The moutains peacefully slept with the forest at its feet. Lakes filled with fresh water crisp and clear. This was the time when the mystical creatures roamed. Unicorns lived happily with the wild horses. Dragons flew free in the sky. All was well, and no sacret being dared disturb this peace. |

| Yet there is always someone who defies the rules. Regardless of the consequences, not caring for what may be the result. Thus is the story of an Arc Angel and a Demon Spawn. Bonded in a time of peace. The last of their kind to swear eternal love. ~2000 Years Ago~ The land was in a state of utmost excitement. Because angels and demons practically lived forever, young pure beings were scarcely created. It had been almost 5000 years since the last Bonding was performed. A length of time unimaginable by most living organisms. An Arc Angel and Royal Demon had announced their decision to bond and had agreed to allow others to witness this sacret ritual. And so, thousands of humans, animals, and several angels and demons gathered on the grassy meadow to share in this monumental event. A curious rabbit wondered at the meaning of such a bond and hopped to a beautiful angel's feet to inquire of this. rabbit: What does it mean to bond with someone? angel: "It is a ceremony that can only be performed by pure angels and demons." rabbit: Why only pure ones? angel: "Because my curious furry friend, there are two very special ingrediants needed in the ritual. Inorder to bond, you must have angel blood, and demon tears." rabbit: That sounds very strange. angel: *laughs* "I suppose it is. But it is because these things are rare that they hold great power. An angel rarely gets hurt, and demons do not cry. During the ceremony, they will use their powers to combine these two ingrediants to form a crystal. After they swear their bond, the crystal will break into two, and then each must consume their half. The shard of crystal will then move to the middle of their hearts and there it will stay. Forever as a symbol of their commitment and devotion." rabbit: *shudders* Wouldn't that hurt? angel: *scratches rabbit's ear* "The crystal is their link to each other. It will not hurt unless they try to break that link." A hush fell through the crowd as the angel and demon took their places in a magic circle. Both had on their best robes, the angel in white and the demon in black. The crowd marvaled at the perfect pair. They seemed to represent all that was life. The angel's wings were as soft and light as the clouds. The demon also had wings because it was pure and of the royal family. It's brilliant black canvas sparkelled like a star-filled evening sky. The angel had the calm of the mountains, hair like the bark of the trees, and eyes like the grass and leaves. His demon counterpart had the gentleness of a warm summer breeze, eyes like of the sky and oceans, and hair the colour of a rising sun. Even the other angels and demons stared in aw at how well they complemented each other. The moment has come and the magic circle began to glow. A whirlwind twisted around the couple in the middle partially covering the two from view. Nonetheless, the crowd was able to see enough to know what was going on. The angel had just stabbed his finger with a small dagger to extract the blood. The demon, who seemed incredibly shocked by what the angel had just done, immediately shed tears of heartache. A simultaneous "awww" spread through the spectators when the angel smiled and reassured the fretting demon. With the two ingrediants in place, the winds picked up at the sudden surge of power. Pressing their hands together palm to plam, the spell began. Angel: "Deeper than the darkest night...." Demon: "Brighter than the afternoon sun....." Angel/Demon: "Forever will our souls be united." The whips of blood gathered in a sphere, then sparkeling tears surrounded it. In a brilliant flash, the two merged and formed a crystal reminiscent of a red saphire. "Bonded by eternal love, sealed in and incased in our hearts forevermore, let this be the symbol of our devotion." Angel: "In the name of Light, the Thirteenth Arc Angel Trowa, this I swear." Demon: "By the name of Darkness, the Sixth Demon Prince Quatre, this I swear." With that, the crystal shattered into two and flew into the bodies of the two beings. The crowd whooped and cheered as the winds died down signalling the end of the ceremony. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Over two thousand years later, our story begins. |
