Oft I wonder,
What it would’ve been like
To live at a different age.
What would society be like?
Would I be at all changed?
My heart yearns for a different path,
Away from the tiresome
Real-life world
And into a more magic land.
Somewhere,
Someway,
Something calls to me.
I’ve been told to seek
What has never been sought.
To find the answers
Of the wise and ancient
Among yon elderly trees.
I often wonder
What it would be like
To escape reality.
To spread my wondrous wings
And fly.
To see the great beauties
That have thus far eluded me.
My soul strives to be at peace;
To be untouched by the artificial,
Kept away from worldly stress.
My soul,
Needs a place to thrive,
Long away from here.
Somewhere,
Someway,
Something calls to me.
I’ve been told to seek
What has never been sought.
To find the answers
Of the wise and ancient
Among yon elderly trees.
I picture myself among the woods,
The voices of the ancients
Streaming through my head.
From the bark emanates,
The telling of mysteries.
I’ve never been,
Nor experienced
What my soul
And dreams cry out for.
All I know,
Is that I want to escape:
And I want to be able to look further.
I wish to see something new,
Something different:
Without all the social stress
And complexity of society.
Somewhere,
Someway,
Something calls to me.
I’ve been told to seek
What has never been sought.
To find the answers
Of the wise and ancient
Among yon elderly trees.
Learn,
See,
Gain the wisdom
That I need.
Somehow it always seems,
That it would be better
Found,
Somewhere else.
‘Anywhere but here’.
