If I look to myself,
Way down inside,
Will I find all the demons
I’ve managed to hide?
Will the darkness merge
Within the bright light?
Will the day be consumed
By the sorrowful night?
If I look beyond,
Beyond all sight,
Will I learn to dread
Everything beyond the light?
Would I choose
To be ignorant?
To always be in a
State of great bliss?
Would I choose
To always be deep?
So consumed by thought
That the simple things be missed?
Neither shall I try to be,
But neither shall I dread.
The paths may change
Many a time; rocky ahead
Till the gently smooth engage.
The darker things will always dwell…
Uncovered in little ways.
But if our understanding
For all never swells,
Then frightful shall it remain.
