Question Number 7
7.  Point of View refers to the vantage point from which the story is told.
A. Why is the limited 3rd person point of view appropriate for this story?

B. How might the story be different if Bierce had used an omniscient third-person narrative?

(A) In reality he was just a dead man. It is limited to the third
person point of view because if it had been from the view of any other
soldier, he would have just been another execution.

(B) The meaning of omniscient is having infinite knowledge.
If this was from an omniscient point of view, you have just seen him die,
none of the details that were in the story would have been said, it would
have just described another execution.
