1.  What were the underlying causes of WWI?
World War I was the cause of leaders' aggression towards other countries which was supported by the rising nationalism of the European nations.

2.  What was the specific cause of WWI?
The specific cause of WWI was economic and imperial competition and fear of war prompted military alliances and an arms race, which further escalated the tension contributing to the outbreak of war.  Also because the murder of Francis Ferdinand by Gavrilo Princip.

3.  How did the soldiers react as they went off to war? Why?
Soldiers in WWI were persuaded to think that war was a glorified thing.  People were proud of going to war to fight for their country.  A daughter of a soldier even explained how her father lied about his age to enlist in the war because he wanted to fight for his country.
