Tim Anderson's "Tim's Bug"

Hook: Eagle Claw 202EL Aberdeen, Gold Finish, Size 2 or 4
Thread: 3/0 Orange
Tail: Orange Marabou and Pearl Krystal Flash
Underbody: (optional) lead
Body: Fluorescent Orange yarn or chenille
Wing: Orange Marabou and Pearl Krystal Flash
Eyes: Brass dumbbell or bead chain

Tying Instructions:

  1. Wrap hook with lead wire (optional).
  2. Secure wire with tying thread.
  3. Tie in marabou tail with a few krystal flash on top.
  4. Wrap on orange overbody.
  5. Wrap in wing of marabou with a few krystal flash on top. (Be sure to leave enough space for the eyes.)
  6. Add eyes, tie in securely and whip finish. (A drop of super glue helps.)

Fishing Tip:

I have had the best success with this critter by letting it sink to the desired depth and then raising the rod tip slowly and at the same time wiggling the tip to and fro to give the fly a darting motion.

This is also a good fly for crappie and when tied in brown or black works good on trout as well as bass.
