Pheasant tail feather - A long one from the center of the tail
Thread
Brown 6/0 thread
Tying Directions:
Start the thread on the hook near the hook eye.
Tie in the bead chain to the top of the hook shank, near the hook eye.
Wrap thread back to the hook bend.
Pull about 12 strands of feather fiber from a large pheasant tail feather.
Since the length is important, be sure to get these fibers from the upper
2/3 of the feather.
Tie in the pheasant tail, making a tail about the length of the hook
shank.
Lightly twist the pheasant tail fibers, and wrap the twisted tail fibers
up to the bead chain. Lift the remaining pheasant tail either over or under
the bead chain and tie off.
Tie in a head of thread, then tie off thread and trim.
