Tying Directions:
- Tie in the weighted eye but more near the hook eye than you would for a Clouser.
- Carry the thread down and tie in the Spanflex antennae.
- Tie the Mono Eyes behind and below the antennae.
- Using nymph dubbing, dub around the face of the bug to blend the parts.
- Cut a 1" piece of a Zonker strip of Rabbit and tie it on behind the
eye to form a claw.
- From a second rabbit strip, tie in about 1" down from the end to form
the second claw and don't cut the remainder of the strip off.
- Wrap thread back to the eye.
- Wrap the remaining rabbit strip back and tie it off behind the eye.
- Remove from the vise and shape the body of the crawfish. Leave lots of
hair because it makes it "come alive" in the water.
Notes:
This pattern is a simple one to tie and fairly quick but more than that it is
a fish producer. It is also one of those patterns that does what we want it to
do when it gets in the water - draw vicious strikes. Of course, try to match the
color of the crawfish in your stream.
