"All the ants on the planet, taken together, have a biomass greater than that of humans.  Ants have been incredibly industrious for millions of years.  Yet their productiveness nourishes plants, animals, and soil.  Human industry has been in full swing for little over a century, yet it has brought about a decline in almost every ecosystem on the planet.  Nature doesn't have a design problem.  People do.  ~William McDonough, architect and environmentalist                                                                        Home
I spent a good deal of the summers of my childhood at my uncle's home in the Catskill mountains of Narrowburg, NY. My Uncle James, a lifestyle outdoorsman, passed on to me, the love of nature, creatures, lakes, creeks, and most especially, mountains. Here's some pretty good links for both learning about the environment, and for getting involved.

This is my Uncle James in his stomping grounds up in the Catskills of Narrowsburg.  This photo was taken August 2008.  Can you believe this man is 86 years old!  Uncle James is badass.  That WW2 rifle he's holding is HEAVY - and it is the one he taught me to fire over 20 years ago.  I had to balance it on the top of the car before I could use it!
