Take a moment
Sarah Rooney

The crisp sound of the snow crunching under your feet
and the flakes drifting to the ground in almost silence.
The only light source is the street lamp
in front of the house glowing brightly.
The whole scene is so calming.
No one is outside to break this silence.
Not even the winds careen past your ear.
They are still tonight in awe.
Just you, the lamppost, and the snow.
It makes you want to just stop
whatever you are suppose to be doing and just try to listen.
If you listen hard enough you might hear the small splat
of the snow touching the cement.
When you look around the trees are blanketed in a white
sheet on the tops of all branches.
Each so delicately place with perfection.
That's what nature is so good at.
Perfection even while there are imperfections.
Yeah sure the branch may be broken,
but its broken in such a way that it seems
as if its suppose to be just like that.
To think you can notice all of this while running out
to your car for something you forgot.
Take a moment to notice the perfections in nature.
You never know what your missing.
