Always a Ball
by Sarah Rooney

Look at them dancing
The shadows on the wall
mimic the energetic motion.
Sparks fly as they meet.
Defying the elements they live
on water as you say goodbye.
Contained in a hearth  they
warm the observing couple.
Running rampent in the forest
or on farms they destroy, yet prepare
the land for rebirth.
But no matter what the event may be
they are always dancing.
